Worthy of a very special mention...
Joining the Games committee in the 1970s, Donald and Willie have an incredible 100 years of committee service between them. They've seen and been part of a lot of changes - and the Games are the kind of day that we all loved and enjoyed this Saturday as a result of all of the experience and hard work from some very special folks all year round ⬇️ 🙏👍👏 it's a fantastic team effort, with lots of moving parts, but golden milestones like these deserve a special thank you.💙 Thank you Donald and Willie 🙏

At the Newtonmore Highland Games on Saturday, 116 brave souls turned up to do the famous Creag Dhubh Hill Race, and all completed successfully!
Runners from all over the world took part in this challenging event, from Germany, Sweden, The Netherlands, Canada, USA, Lebanon, Switzerland and the UK from Bristol to Inverness.
The race begins with a full lap of the games field before heading towards the hill via an obstacle course of 2 barriers, a lumpy field full of thistles, 2 more fences, a river, some rounded boulders, a very steep bank, another fence right next to a crash barrier, across a road and then you can finally start running properly.
The descent is fast and exciting, down heather initially and then back down the narrow trail with little chance of overtaking until lower down. Then after the road crossing the same crazy obstacle course of 5 fences plus a river to cross, before a final lap of the games field to finish.
The race was won by Max Walker of Milocarian AC, Bristol in a time of 29:22 and the first woman was Claire Hopkins. The first juniors were David Rogers from Lochaber Athletic Club and Maisy Gorman. Well done everyone!! Do you think you could do this?! Come and have a go next year - always the first Saturday in August.

Newtonmore Highland Games - Where the Pipes Sing and the Dancers Soar!
The Highland Dancers were simply outstanding, showcasing incredible skill, grace and precision in every performance. It was a real treat to watch such talent on display.
The stirring sound of the massed pipe bands marching together created an unforgettable atmosphere on the Milan, while the individual piping competitors captivated the crowds with their remarkable musicianship and dedication to Scotland's proud musical tradition.
From the elegance of the dancers to the powerful sound of the pipes, it was a wonderful celebration of Highland culture and tradition. Congratulations to everyone who took part and helped make the day so memorable! Special thanks to our local band Badenoch & Strathspey Pipe Band . Also to visiting bands Blairgowrie, Rattray & District Pipe Band, Pitlochry & Blair Atholl Pipe Band & Doune Pipe Band. Also thanks to toeandheel.com

Huge thanks to every single one of our amazing volunteers, the local legends in the community, the officials & judges, and the brilliant businesses and organisations that got stuck in. Here are just some happy faces from 'clean-up morning' on the Sunday. 🙏👏 Loads of others though too - you know who you are and thank you!
