Derby Day! We welcome Ripley to the Bear Pit.

Aiming to continue our good form and do the double over our local rivals, the team today is made up of new faces and long standing servants.

Please note all locals… it’s Hampsthwaite Feast today so please do pop in for a refreshing beverage at the clubhouse and to watch a spot of cricket whilst you’re at it…

Today as we prepare to face Bolton Abbey at Home, we will observe a minutes silence to remember Dorothy ‘Dot’ Thwaite.

Dot was made a Nidderdale League Life member in 2006 for her services to cricket, both as an outstanding player in her youth and latterly as Hampsthwaite’s scorer for more than 70 years.

Dorothy’s passion for the game was second to none, her knowledge of the game encyclopaedic.
In the era of iPads and electronic scoring, her legacy will be the dozens of meticulously accurate paper scorebooks that she completed held at Church Lane. She will be sorely missed by all members of Hampsthwaite CC and The Nidderdale and District Amateur Cricket League.

Hampsthwaite MOTM award this week goes to Sam Dabin.

Match winning performance with the bat 92* in our successful chase of Ripley Cc’s total of 220 which went down to the penultimate ball of the innings striking 3 boundaries in the final over with 9 required.

Also chipping in with the ball, taking an outstanding C&B. Plus back to back catches in the deep to stunt Ripley’s innings.

The most complete performance we’ve seen in a while.

Honourable mentions to Ned Mclelland with his contribution of 58 only being cut short when walking after no appeal made by Ripley. Plus skipper Ben Welsh who was the beneficiary of Sam’s fine catching skills.

Altogether an outstanding local derby that went down to the wire! Back to back wins secured, on to next week… 🐻

Today we welcome Ouseburn CC to the Hampsthwaite Oval, as we begin a key run of 5 fixtures to the end of the season.

Some key faces return for this match - Swaino, Kev, Viv and Sam Dabin. Plus a warm welcome to Mr Wiltshire.
