The u14s invited Crossfields to the Crow Lane stadium to contest the quarterfinals of the plate competition. Crossfields higher league credentials showed from the off with only excellent full back play and poor goal kicking keeping storm in the contest. Unfortunately Crossfields persistence started to pay off and they went into the half time break with a 12 point cushion.

The second half payed out much the same as the 1st, with Storm at times looking like rabbits in the headlights when Crossfields bigger runners got going. Storm rallied late in the game forcing themselves over the line twice to make the score line more respectable, but if they are going to push for promotion again this season they are going to have to up their game if they are going to be able to compete there.

This weekend our under 9s were hosted by Thatto Heath. It was fantastic to see them applying what they had learnt in training and talking to each other on the pitch with some good defence too!

Friday 7pm - We start!

Masters Rugby League at Newton Storm ARLFC 🏉

We're launching 2 Masters teams at Newton Storm ARLFC – one male and one female.

We're going to kick off with the first mens and womens session thie Friday at 7pm and then into the club to watch the rugby afterwards.

Great game vs Thatto and clock face. Particularly impressed in the defence efforts against good opposition.

Also we have been working hard on trying to run straight and more direct and we could see that in action making good yards leading to some great team try's!

Under 7's hosting Pilks and Clockface for Sunday's festival fixture. 4 pitches and 12 games of rugby. Loads of tags, loads of tries and the teams loved every minute.

After their cup win last weekend it was back to league business for the under 14’s.

The visitors to the Crow Lane Stadium were Woolston Rovers Greens who sit at the foot of the table. Their league positioning doesn’t do them justice though as they showed with their first possession.

Woolston raced half the length of the pitch, after Storm conceded a kick off penalty, to take the lead.

Storm replied swiftly through slick handling to level the match up and set the tone for what would be a close game.

The referee remarked at half time that it had the feel of a basketball game with both sides trading scores and neither looking like they were ever out of contention.

However, it did seem like Storm were gifting Woolston possession in the red zone with handling errors and inviting them to repeatedly bulldozer over to keep in touch.

Ultimately Storm managed to take the lead towards the end of the game and hold on for a hard fought victory.
