A brilliant night at the club this evening which starts off our sweep nights. With 14 players taking part — a great turnout! 🙌

It may have been a cold one, but that didn’t stop the fun and friendly competition on the green.

What a fantastic day at Wigtown Bowling Club as we officially opened the green today! ☀️

A huge thank you to little Meagh McKie for throwing the first jack and getting our season underway in style. 👏

It was wonderful to see so many faces on the green — both our long-standing members and new bowlers joining us for the first time. The turnout and the spirit, made it a great day.

Well done to everyone who came along and helped make today such a success.

So, here's to a brilliant season ahead — full of great bowls, and good company! 🧿🌿🎉

After seeing that beautiful drone footage yesterday, we’re sure you’ll agree our green is looking absolutely gorgeous thanks to Frances Smith, Martin Smith and Malcolm Macdonald who have worked tirelessly on the green over the past weeks 🙌👏

🌿 Wigtown Bowling Club – Opening Tomorrow🌿

We’re absolutely delighted to share this stunning drone footage of Wigtown, captured beautifully from above — and just look at our green sitting right at the heart of it all 💚

The green is looking fantastic and ready for the season ahead. A huge amount of work goes on behind the scenes to keep it in such great condition, and we think this video really shows just how special our club (and our town) truly is.

We’re especially grateful to Roddy Cooksley of Faodail Antiques, Wigtown for kindly capturing this footage for us — it really is something special.

💚 PLEASE SHARE 💚

After many years of dedicated service, our long-standing Greenkeeper has stepped down, and we are now urgently looking for someone to take on this vital role.

Wigtown Bowling Club is a historic and much-loved part of the town — bringing people together for league matches, open competitions, and social play for generations. Without proper care, the green cannot operate, and the future of the club could be at risk.

We are looking for someone reliable, practical, and community-spirited who enjoys working outdoors.

🌱 Flexible commitment — some weeks busier than others (seasonal)
🌱 Experience helpful but NOT essential
🌱 Guidance and support available
🌱 Payment from Greenkeeper donations
🌱 Greenkeeper match fees from games
🌱 A respected and valued role within the community

This role could suit:
✔️ Retired or semi-retired person
✔️ Keen gardener or grounds enthusiast
✔️ Farmer / grounds worker / practical outdoor person
✔️ Anyone who takes pride in maintaining something special
