April is Autism Awareness Month 💙
Many of you know Brandon, our son, who works with us here in the Exmouth Kings either helping with delivery’s or in the Kitchen.
Brandon is autistic. He is kind, hardworking, and loves being part of the team—but he experiences the world differently.
He may ask questions that feel quite personal, stand a little closer than expected, or rock when he’s excited or overwhelmed. These are all part of who he is.
Recently, we’ve had to ensure Brandon always wears his verified disability badge so others understand. This is something he doesn’t like much—but sadly, it’s become necessary because of the negative comments and reactions he receives daily.
So today, we are asking something important from our community:
Please choose kindness.
Please be patient.
Please think before you judge.
If Brandon speaks to you, please respond with warmth. If his behaviour seems unfamiliar, please show understanding rather than criticism.
And if you see unkindness—please stand with us and speak up.
Autism doesn’t need fixing. But the way people respond to it can make all the difference.
We are proud of Brandon every single day. We just ask that others treat him with the same respect and compassion.
Please help us spread awareness by sharing this post 💙
Here at Kings, we want everyone to feel welcome and able to be who they are—quirks and all. Verified disability badges and sunflower lanyards are fully recognised and respected at Kings.
Together, we can create a more inclusive and understanding community. 🌼
