Listen up MUGA fans, we have really good news!

The Parish Council have had the go ahead from Insurers to refurbish the MUGA (Multi Use Games Area) following its damage during the recent flooding. 🎉

ETC Sports have been instructed to do the work asap so as soon as we have a timeline we’ll update the community. 📣

Let’s hope it won’t be too long, we know our MUGA fans miss it. 🫶🏻 ⚽️🏀🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏼‍➡️🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️‍➡️

Update

May I just clarify that the "effluent" that I referred to was in respect of any wild or domestic animal effluent + farm run off that may have been within the river water that flooded the whole area - Webber's Meadow, tennis courts, Play area and, of course the MUGA.

Once the river receded the water would have been soaked away into the ground and be washed down/away by the vast amount of rain that has subsequentky fallen, this forming no danger to anyone.

However, the MUGA has 2 x layers and both layers are still sodden. The top layer could be steam cleaned but the underlying layer still retains much of the floodwater within it so would continually ""contaminate" the top layer so as to make it unhygienic/unsafe to use.

Yesterday afternoon Cllrs Tillotson & Dalton and myself met Chris Headon, Managing Director of ETC Sports Surfaces Limited, the specfialist Company which initially set up the MUGA, at the MUGA in order to assess the extenet of the damage following the recently flooding.

Unfortunately, it is beyond repair especially bearing in mind the effluent etc that has passed over and remains within the various layers, aas well as the shrinkage and bubbling in places of the surface layer.

further notice while we risk assess any damage. 💦

👀 Please keep an eye on our page and we will update you when we can unlock the gates again. We hope it won’t be too long.

We’d also like to express our sympathy to any homes, facilities or local businesses in the area affected and damaged yesterday. 🏡

Hello Community, 👋🏼

It’s been a while since we said hello! We hope all of our MUGA users are well and happy using our villages great facility.

It is nearly two years on from the relaunch of the MUGA (post the floods of 2023) and so happy that the community are using and enjoying the space so much. Thank you to everyone using it, for looking after it.

We’d like to remind the community of some very important regulations when using the MUGA and we respectfully ask parents to please remind our younger community of these as well.

We welcome the Sidmouth Netball club to the MUGA this evening. Hopefully the rain holds off. Don’t forget the MUGA can be hired for any activity, any age groups, anytime in green slots and now with permanant floodlights we will start to take bookings through the winter

☀️ Currently perfect weather for outdoor activities at the MUGA! Kicking a ball or throwing a ball, shooting goals or hoops! It’s been delightful weather and great to see the MUGA still being used for what it is there for. ⚽️🏀

We have a couple of private bookings the next two weeks so here is the timetable of availability. 🗓️

🤍The white slots are open to all
💚The green slots can be booked for exclusive hire but if it’s empty during these times then use it.
❤️The red slots are booked out
