🏃‍♀️❤️ SUPPORT JESS & DRAVET SYNDROME UK ❤️🏃‍♀️

One of our ladies players, Jess Ruston, is just over 2 weeks away from taking on a HUGE challenge — running a half marathon to raise money and awareness for Dravet syndrome! 💪🏻🏃‍♀️

Dravet Syndrome UK has supported a family friends little boy aged 3 through an incredibly difficult and uncertain journey, and Jess would love to raise some extra money to help ensure that the charity can continue providing vital support to their family and others going through similar experiences. ❤️

And if running a HALF MARATHON wasn’t enough… Jess is also planning on playing in our women’s fixture that afternoon! 😳😂⚽️

Its ends all square in the girls’ first home game.

The girls showed great resilience against a strong Elburton side, coming back from being behind twice in the game to come away with a draw.
Our 2 goals came from a calm finish from Ashleigh and a header from Lucy Rosser. ⚽️⚽️

Pre season friendly no.2⚽️

Tonight the girls travelled to Cullompton for their second pre season friendly and ran out deserved winners with a convincing win.

Travelling with a squad of 21 players meant we split the team for the 2 halves. We knew it was going to be a tough test against a young and quick side, but thanks to a first half hatrick from Ella Underhill and a fine finish from Ashleigh Cottrell we stormed into a 2-4 lead at half time. Second half saw a more experienced team enter the pitch - Cullompton started the half strong by pulling back a goal to make it 3-4, but the experience and collectiveness of this new squad got their heads together and Lucy Rosser killed the game off with a second half hatrick.

The squad are really building and improving each week and we know we have a very exciting season ahead of us. A brilliant result tonight from two completely different squads.

A massive thank you to Cullompton for hosting us, a really impressive young team who held their own. We look forward to meeting again in the season. ⚽️

Next up, the girls have their first HOME GAME this Sunday vs Elburton Villa. All support welcome so please come down and support the girls. 💙💙💙

Match result⚽️

Well…the first ever game for the Newton Spurs ladies ended in a 0-5 victory in our first pre season friendly 🏆
Travelling with a squad of 17 meant lots of changes of players, formations and positions, but the girls stuck together and got the result. A brilliant performance from everyone in our first ever game playing together.
Massive thank you to Hunters for hosting us at short notice, you didn’t make it easy for us and we wish you all the best of luck for the season ahead🫶🏼

PRE SEASON FRIENDLY⚽️💙

The ladies look forward to starting their pre season campaign tomorrow with a trip down to Plymouth to face Hunters District Ladies. We’re looking to putting training into practice with lots of new faces in the squad. ⚽️
