On Sunday I’m walking the Templer Way (18 miles) in support of Ashburton Dartmoor Search and Rescue.
Living on the south eastern edge of Dartmoor in Haytor, for the past four years, I’ve come to deeply respect the moor and its changing weather and landscape. In 2024 I was lucky enough to join a group called Wild Mums, a group of like-minded mums of all ages, led by Shona, an incredibly inspiring lady, who generously gave her time freely to facilitate deep and meaningful conversations, whilst also teaching us navigation skills, safety, and confidence on the moor.
We embarked on 'wild camping' weekends on the moor in different locations, often off the beaten track once a month for seven months. It was so connecting, yet simultaneously freeing and such an awesome learning experience.
Shona also volunteers with Dartmoor Search and Rescue, and her kindness and commitment inspired me to do this walk as a small thank you, and to support the vital work the team do. You literally never know when you might need to call on this team in an emergency! We are so fortunate to have their services available to us.
If you're able to support me, even a small donation would mean a great deal.
I’ve shared my JustGiving page below.
Many thanks,
Catriona 🥰
