Deadlifts aren’t dangerous. Poor coaching, ego lifting, and bad load management are.
The deadlift is one of the most functional strength movements we can do because it trains a movement pattern we use every single day: picking things up safely from the floor.
Shopping bags. Suitcases. Kids. Gardening. Moving furniture. Everyday life involves lifting — and deadlifts help prepare the body for it.
When coached properly, deadlifts can:• Improve posture and core strength• Build stronger backs, glutes, hamstrings, and grip• Increase bone density and resilience• Reduce injury risk by teaching proper lifting mechanics• Improve balance, coordination, and confidence• Help people stay independent and capable as they age
And the best part? Deadlifts are adaptable for EVERYONE.
Not every deadlift has to be a heavy barbell from the floor. Variations like:• Pause deadlifts• Tempo deadlifts• Deficit deadlifts• Trap bar deadlifts• Romanian deadlifts• Block pulls
…allow us to tailor the movement to different ages, abilities, mobility levels, and goals.
A beginner learning control with a light kettlebell and an athlete pulling heavy weight are both benefiting from the same fundamental movement pattern.
Strength training shouldn’t make people fearful of movement — it should make them more capable in life.
Deadlifts, when taught correctly, are not something to avoid. They’re something worth learning.
At Paradise Fitness Newton Abbot this is exactly what we focus on — coaching movement properly, building confidence, and helping people of all ages and abilities get stronger safely for everyday life
