RESULT

Mayobridge 2-6 Cleary Celtic

Yesterday saw us lose our first game of the season as we fell to a 6-2 defeat against Cleary Celtic.

We started the game very well and took the lead inside 20 minutes with a great volley from Mackers. We were the better team at this stage but Cleary equalised about 5 minutes later, and then added another 2 within 10 minutes, including a penalty. Things could’ve went worse but Mick Gall made a great penalty save on stroke of half time to keep it at 3-1.

The second half started brilliantly for us when Brendy Cunningham made it 3-2. However, Cleary quickly restored their 2 goal lead. We continued to play well and create chances, but ultimately couldn’t take any of them and they scored 2 more late on to make it 6-2.

The scoreline didn’t reflect the overall game and it was a good test against the best team in the league.

The league continues tomorrow as we make the short trip to Derryleckagh to take on Cleary Celtic.

After getting our first win of the season last weekend, we will be looking to continue our strong start to the season against last years league champions.

🚨 RESULT 🚨

Mayobridge FC 2-1 Villa Rovers

A great win today as we took the 3 points in a hard fought game against Villa Rovers.

The first half wasn’t a classic by any means and chances were few and far between for both sides, and it was goalless at half time.

The second half is where all the action started and we took the lead when Conor Garvey took it round the keeper and slotted home. It wasn’t long after that we made it 2-0 with Barnsey scoring a great free kick. Villa did manage to pull one back late on but we held on for the win.

Our first win the Premier Division in what was also our first outing in our new jerseys. A massive thank you to Coke Laverty’s Bar and Lounge for sponsoring the team once again.

After a weekend off last week, we return to league action tomorrow as we take on Villa Rovers in Jennings Park.

We will be looking to pick up where we left off a couple of weeks ago after a good result in the first game which seen us pick up a well earned point.

RESULT

Mayobridge FC 1-1 Newry Celtic

A good result today in our first game in the Premier Division as we got a point against a strong Newry Celtic team.

The first half had chances for both teams but it was us who talk the lead about half way through the half when Ger Laverty tapped home after Mackers hit the post. And that’s the way it stayed until half time.

In the second half again there were chances for both teams again, with Newry Celtic probably edging it but we defended well to hold them out, with Mick Gallagher making some great saves. Unfortunately, Newry did equalise late on and it finished 1-1.

The league season starts tomorrow as we play Newry Celtic in Clonallon Park.

This will be our first game in the Premier Division, and we look forward to a competitive and challenging season ahead.

RESULT

Mayobridge FC 1-3 Cleary Celtic

It wasn’t to be today as we fell to a 3-1 defeat in the 1st round of the Gerald Kennedy Cup to Cleary Celtic.

The first half was quite an even game with both teams playing good football and creating some decent chances. Unfortunately for us we couldn’t take any of ours and Cleary went 2-0 up going into the break.

The second half continued in the same style with chances for both teams, but it was Cleary who added a third around the hour mark. We tried our best to get back into the game, and managed to pull one back late on thanks to Brendy Murtagh finally getting his head on a ball and finding the back of the net.

Another good run out and we look forward to the league season starting on 15th August.

🔵⚪️ Gerald Kennedy Cup Round 1🔵⚪️

Competitive action returns tomorrow as we take on Cleary Celtic in the 1st round of the Gerald Kennedy Cup.

This is already our second meeting with Cleary after a narrow defeat in the Jimmy Davis cup last week, and we will look to put in another good performance in our first appearance in this cup.
