10 weeks ago a frank conversation about my weight with a friend and the affect it was having on my entire physical health and mental state led me to bite the bullet and take action.
Not only did I feel incredibly uncomfortable in my own skin, my self esteem was now existent. Granted, like many, I had a stressful couple of years and it had taken its toll on me mentally, I felt drained and lost all motivation.
I had a family wedding in 12 weeks so I decided to set that as my goal date.
I had been using the same excuses, that I was too busy, I don’t have time, the kids have football etc. I had to stop making excuses and start to make changes.
Sharon would say there is really no such thing as being motivated all the time, it’s habits. Structure and routine help maintain habits, and habits get you going whether you feel like it or not. Once you're able to get yourself moving and doing something, it's easier to keep going. Instead of waiting to feel motivated to do something, take action instead.
I went to Sharon and said things need to change I am going to start walking first to get my weight down then find confidence go back to classes. She was having none of it, she insisted I did not need to wait to be anything before coming back to classes… and she said I can walk as well as the classes! The moment I walked back into shed, after a good 2 years I was welcomed back with open arms by all the other ladies and with the support from them and Sharon I have become fitter, healthier and stronger in a short space of time. She was right about not waiting any longer.
In relation to my nutrition and food intake I had convinced myself that my three main meals a day were fairly good. I knew I was guilty of snacking and emotional eating junk food but when Sharon educated me a little on the calorie content of my meals I soon realised where the problem lay.
Sharon showed me one of the numerous apps that are so simple and accessible to use for free that track calories and soon the words “Calories in versus Calories out” that Sharon is constantly preaching about started to make sense.
Like so many of us, I am really busy. Working two jobs with three kids and a husband working shifts, it’s hard to get the time. With my husband’s support I have been able to manage our schedules every week, allowing me to attend 4-5 classes per week and walk 2-3 times a week before the kids waken. I now prioritise my class bookings like any other appointment I have in the diary.
4 weeks in I had lost 12.5lb, within 8 weeks I lost a further 10lb.
Currently 10 weeks on I am sitting at a total loss of 24.5lb and down 2 full dress sizes 👗
My new goal is to lose another 3.5lb which will get me to my 2 stone target off for Christmas 🤶
In addition to the weight loss, I feel so much better, look healthier and mentally I am happier, stronger and more confident.
