🏆 Cloghogue Captains’ Day 2026 🏆
What a fantastic Captains’ Day at Cloghogue on Sunday, with some brilliant pitch & putt played across both the Men’s and Women’s competitions. ⛳💚
A huge congratulations to our Captain’s Prize winners, Sean Smith and Rosaleen Kenny, who produced two excellent performances to take the honours. Sean topped the Men’s competition with an impressive 91 points, while Rosaleen claimed the Women’s Captain’s Prize with a superb 89 points. 👏
Our Vice Captain’s Prizes went to Thomas Mc Inerney with 83 points and Ashlene McKevitt with 84 points.
In the Men’s grades, Ronan Hollywood took the Grade 1 36 Gross with 105, edging Mark Flynn on the back six, while John Smith won the Grade 1 18 Nett with 46, on the back nine from Shane Barr. In Grade 2, Ally McCann won the 36 Gross with 112, with Patrick Burns taking the 18 Nett on 47.
The Women’s grades saw Marina O'Rourke win the Grade 1 18 Gross with 54, while Valerie Rogers took the 18 Nett with 48. Grade 2 honours went to Louise Hodgett, 18 Gross with 66, and Martina McCooey, 18 Nett with 44.
The day also gave us the opportunity to recognise our season-long achievements. Congratulations to our 2026 Players of the Year, Chris Cunningham and Darlene Parr. 🏆
Our Matchplay honours went to Neil Barr & Josh Ohare in the Gent’s Doubles, Declan Rogers in the Gent’s Singles, Darlene Parr & Shirley Wells in the Women’s Doubles, and Marty Magee & Patricia Smith in the Mixed Matchplay.
Congratulations also to Oonagh McMahon & Ashling McEllroy, winners of the Women’s Welcome Prize, and a very special congratulations to Valerie Rogers, our Club Woman of the Year. 💚👏
A massive thank you to everyone who played, helped organise the competitions, prepared the course, provided food (Boyd's Kitchen On The Go) and refreshments, presented prizes or simply came along to support the day. Days like this don’t happen without a lot of work behind the scenes, and it was brilliant to see so many members together enjoying the occasion.
Finally, congratulations to all our winners and runners-up, and especially to our Captains Denis McGuinness & Shirley Wells and Vice Captains Catherine Flynn & John Smith on a fantastic day.
