Newport FDC U13s produced an excellent all-round performance to secure a convincing 6–1 victory over Poole Town last Saturday.

The game started at a steady pace for FDC, who took a little time to find their rhythm. However, once settled, the team began to grow into the match and took a deserved lead when Mason calmly converted a penalty after being brought down by the Poole keeper. The move was sparked by a superb through ball from Kian, splitting the defence and creating the opportunity.

As the first half progressed, FDC became increasingly solid at the back while also creating more chances going forward. The team’s pressing improved significantly, disrupting Poole’s build-up play and allowing FDC to control large spells of possession. This strong finish to the half saw FDC head into the break with a deserved 1–0 lead.

The second half saw FDC raise their level even further. Defensively, the team remained organised and disciplined, while in midfield they battled superbly—winning first and second balls and dominating individual duels. This control allowed FDC to create a steady stream of chances, with excellent team play and individual quality on display.

Goals from Mason, Norman and Kian highlighted a dominant second-half performance and sealed a brilliant win. These consisted of a superb cross from Norman which was then converted well from Mason, Kian striking a ball brilliantly into the top corner and Mason and Norman pressing really strongly which was really good to see forcing Poole into a mistake which led to the goal. Fair play to their goalkeeper, who made several good saves to prevent the scoreline from being even more emphatic.

A strong team performance from start to finish, full of energy, resilience and quality, saw FDC run out deserved 6–1 winners. We now look forward to our next league game at home versus Southampton Girls on the 7th of February ⚽️

A couple of weeks ago (22nd Nov), we travelled over to Ringwood to play Wessex Sports Whites in poor conditions.

FDC made a blistering start, taking the lead inside the opening two minutes when Liam raced onto a well-timed through ball and finished calmly. The team kept the pressure on, creating a flurry of chances with sharp shooting from the edge of the box and dangerous balls delivered from wide areas. The second goal came through Max, who struck brilliantly to double the advantage. FDC’s attacking intent and wide play set the tone early.

The dominance continued after the break. The high press caused constant problems for Wessex, preventing them from playing out and forcing turnovers in dangerous areas. The midfield trio of Freddie, Kian, and Vinny controlled the centre of the pitch superbly, while defensively Dex and Harry H formed an excellent partnership. FDC also played out from the back with real composure. Despite the pressure, the score remained 2–0.

Even against tough conditions with strong wind and rain in our faces, FDC stayed in full control. We continued to create chances and push forward, with only narrow misses and a few miscommunications in the box preventing further goals. We continued to play superb football building through the thirds nicely which was great to see. Across the pitch, every area was dominated despite the weather stacking the odds against us.

FDC finished the game in style. Our pace out wide and excellent delivery into the box caused constant danger, leading to a series of outstanding team and individual goals. Freddie, Mason, Max, Dylan, and Dex all added their names to the scoresheet as FDC’s attacking quality shone through. The relentless pressure and creative wing play ensured a strong finish to an already commanding display.

A very dominant performance from start to finish, with quality shown in every area of the pitch—attacking play, pressing, defensive organisation, and composure in possession led to a very well-deserved 8–0 win. FDC now looks ahead to their next game tomorrow against Southampton FC Girls, held at the Southampton FC training ground.

Yesterday, the lads and a few adults/siblings had a fantastic afternoon at Go Splatter Paintball in Ryde! Was brilliant for the boys to spend time together off the pitch with lots of laughter throughout! Here's some photos with more videos to come 👍🔫🎨
