AJ's Kickboxing Academy

AJ's Kickboxing Academy AJ's Kickboxing Academy offers Kickboxing classes in Newport for men, women and children from the age of 5 and above Minimum age is 16. Class fees are £5.

Kuroikaze is an eclectic style, incorporating Karate kicks with Western Boxing punches. Muay Thai techniques, locks, takedowns and throws are also a feature of this style making it a complete self defence system. Classes are held at the Mardy Village Hall every Thursday evening between 7:00pm and 8:30pm except the 1st week of the month where classes are held on a Monday. Classes also run in the St Julian's Beaufort Centre in Newport every Tuesday evening between 7:00pm and 8:00pm. Kuroikaze Martial Arts/Kickboxing was formed by Alan Morgan and Chris Morgan. Previous to this, Alan and Chris spent many years training in Modern Karate Kickboxing, formerly known as Kindai Ryu, under the guidance of Scott Carey, 5th Degree, former triple British Champion and World Title contender in both Semi-point scoring and Kickboxing formats (1987-1994) and Russell Newton, 5th Degree, who achieved double international status as a competitor in 1989/90. It was with these highly renowned and respected Gold Bar Instructors that they achieved their Degree grades. Chief Instructor, Alan (4th Degree Black Belt), has 18 years’ experience as an Instructor and has achieved Silver Badge Instructor Status with the World Kickboxing Association and is recognized as a Level 1 Instructor with the Cobra Martial Arts Association (a nationally recognised Martial Arts association to whom the club is currently affiliated). He is also a qualified ‘C’ Class referee and judge. Senior Instructor, Chris (3rd Degree Black Belt), has 14 years’ experience as an instructor. From the age of 12 to 16 he competed in Light Contact competition and then turned to Professional Full Contact Kickboxing, competing all over the country until he retired from competition in 2009. During that time he won Welsh and English Titles, held British Titles at three different weights and retired as reigning ISKA British and Commonwealth Light Middleweight Champion.

🥊 FREE 4-WEEK MEN’S MENTAL WELLBEING KICKBOXING COURSE

We’re really pleased to be working with Kick-Start to deliver a completely FREE 4-week kickboxing course for men, focused on physical activity, confidence, connection and mental wellbeing

And we want to make one thing clear…

You don’t need to be struggling. You don’t need to be fit. You don’t need any kickboxing experience

Whether you’ve never thrown a punch in your life or you’ve trained before, none of that really matters

This is about getting a group of men together once a week, getting moving, learning some kickboxing, having a laugh, meeting people and experiencing just how beneficial exercise and training can be for the way we feel

There’s no judgement, no pressure and no expectation to already know what you’re doing. We’ll take care of that!

❤️🖤 MEN’S MENTAL HEALTH TALK – THIS SUNDAY ❤️🖤

This Sunday, we’re proud to be opening the doors at AJ’s Kickboxing Academy for an important Men’s Mental Health Talk, delivered by Jacob Guy from JSG Health for Dads

Mental health matters, and we want to do our bit to encourage more men to talk, listen and understand that asking for support should never be something to shy away from

You don’t need to be struggling to benefit from this session. It’s an opportunity to learn more about mental health, recognise the signs that someone may need support and become more comfortable having conversations that could make a real difference

Although the talk is focused on men’s mental health, women are very welcome to attend too. Supporting the men in our lives starts with understanding the challenges they may face, so we’d love to see partners, mums, sisters, friends and family members there as well

AJ’s members and non-members are all welcome

Come along yourself, bring a friend, your dad, brother, son, partner, or anyone else you think could benefit
