Please keep dogs on leads around Shuker Fields when football is being played ⚽🐕
A gentle request to everyone who uses Shuker Fields: when children’s football games are taking place, please could dogs be kept on leads and well away from the pitches.
Today, a runner was attacked by a dog that was on a long training lead, while other dogs in the area were running off lead. It’s a reminder that even well-behaved dogs can react unexpectedly, particularly when there are lots of people and children around.
Please be considerate of the children playing football and the families watching, and give the pitches plenty of space. Keeping dogs on leads and away from the playing areas would make a huge difference to everyone’s safety and enjoyment of the fields.
This isn’t about blaming dog owners — it’s simply a request for a little extra consideration while children’s games are taking place.
