Day 5… The final day and it did not disappoint!🤩

We had;
Team of 18 swimmers
Finalists of 11 swimmers
Medalists of 4 swimmers

The true effort each and every swimmer has put into this summer championships is incredible. They have worked so hard and this is only an absolute reflection of their efforts to turn up to training, put in the technical skill and the mileage, as well as say no to a million things so they can train.

We as coaches know only too well the sacrifices your athletes make to take part in this sport. It requires so much from them physically, mentally and emotionally, when you get a PB, achieve a new skill, make a final or even achieve a medal, there is no greater joy.

These last five days have seen our mighty team, smash their times, progress and learn every step of the way. They are quite simply amazing.

This season has come to its conclusion, on an all time high, giving the club a solid foundation to grow from going into next season, and Newport Swimming Club is firmly on the map… look out Wales… we are coming…

Thank you to all the coaches, team managers, chaperone’s, officials and parents who have, helped, supported and championed our team every step of the way. None of this could happen with out you 🥰

Well done to everyone who took part you will and always will be our super heroes!!

Day 4…. What a performance again 💪🏼

The sun is shining and your swimmers are smashing it. Again a huge flurry of PB’s across the age groups and for some, brand new events to race at this level.

The strength across the squads racing in multiple disciplines is so exciting to see. It demonstrates the versatility of each and every athlete to adapt and rebuild from race to final and from final to final.

It’s a great challenge to have multiple finals as swimmers need to engage with the mental, emotional and physical challenges of these situations and your swimmers do this with ease, determination and an awesome mental attitude.
Learning these skills now will not only set them up for success in the pool, but also throughout life and the competitive situations they will find themselves in.

As coaches it has been a joy to work with each and every athlete and on day 4, there is always a chance for fatigue to kick in and the focus to be lost… but not today, they rose to each and every race and championed every process and were positive every step of the way..

You are true champions and keep up the effort for one final push… we are extremely proud of you all 🤩.

Day 3….

Wow!! What a day. Coaches reflection from today has highlighted how each and every opportunity one of your swimmer’s have to race is an opportunity to learn and develop 🥰

Being a competitive athlete is an essential part of any journey across life, but more so in sport. At any level your swimmers must build resilience, determination and make a plan to help them improve. Whether this be their dive, their finish or their stroke.

Today we celebrated a series of first’s with our national newbies appreciating their first race, their first final and their first chance to simply have a go.

We couldn’t be prouder of everyone’s attitude and maturity to following processes and being committed of each and every race. Your swimmers are a credit to you as parents and to the club.

Let’s look forward to more first’s, more opportunities to develop and more exceptional experiences that helps our swimmers and club grow.

Day 2 has been another exceptional day!

As a team we had 20 swimmers
12 Finalists
4 Medals

Today saw our swimmers grow in confidence, follow the processes set by the coaches and develop a new found level of fun and commitment to racing 💪🏼

Our biggest reflection as coaches today was the support your swimmers showed to one another. We had multiple scenarios today that required our athletes to step up and support each other and they did not fail to meet those requirements. From support with the call room, swim down procedures and swimsuit mishaps. The team spirit and camaraderie was a pleasure to watch and you should all be immensely proud of your swimmers today, they were fantastic 🤩

Well done to everyone today, you are all amazing!! Thank you to everyone involved in supporting our athletes be the best version of themselves they can be. A flurry of incredible PB’s today was phenomenal… hold your heads high…. Roll on Day 3 👍🏻

What a 1st day at Swim Wales Summer Championships 2026.

The team did Newport Swimming and Waterpolo club super proud today with a mountain of PB’s and stepping up again in the finals!

Team of 21 swimmers
12 of our swimmers made finals
6 of our swimmers secured medals..

We couldn’t be prouder of each and everyone’s effort and determination. Showing our strength and depth across the squads.

We cannot wait for day 2… don’t forget you can stream the swimming live all day every day 👍🏻
