Taking Charge! Pt2

Heat 3 began with a rocket start from Maya making up 3 places at T1 & holding off some early reprisals. On lap 3, another driver came through which Maya gladly latched on to. They both caught P2 where a coming together just after the pitlane allowed Maya to profit & claim P2. The joy dampened by a penalty undoing the good work; one we’ll debate over as a team to ensure there’s no repeats. Jacob wasn’t keen on the kart he drew in for his race but set about making the best of it which he did with some great overtakes to secure P2 from a P4 start. Tom & Ollie set off, in the final heat, from P1 & P3 respectively. They exchanged fastest laps all race; a battle Oliver eventually won with a 24.9 & P3. It was Tom however who, with clean air, showed what he could do posting less than a tenth off & running away with the lead, P1.

This put ¾ of the team into the A. Maya hobbled by her penalty which would have put her in the mix too. She lined up pole for the C & never hesitated, confidently dispatching a lights to flag victory & her FL of the day. The momentum continued in the B fighting forward from P8 to P5, picking up 2 on the opening lap & courtesy of a long chase pocketing P5 right at the death. Jacob & Oliver were P4 & P5 for the A final with Tom close behind in P7. The first start was abandoned with Oliver stuck in the wall at T1. The 2nd attempt had Jacob audaciously move for P3 at T1 & Oliver follow. Oliver dived at the top corner for two karts, allowing Jacob to take P2 & himself P3. This is how they ran for most of the race before disaster, Jacob was taken out causing a red flag. The rules state the results go back a lap which should have given Jacob P2 but these rules weren’t followed on the day sadly classifying him P7 with Tom benefitting in P6. Oliver took P2 which puts him in command of the championship.

A bittersweet result where the team could really have taken the fight to the other teams. We’re proud of the performances each driver put in. All are improving at such a rate. A special mention to great performance from our stand-in Tom! You’re welcome back anytime- A final on your first attempt!

Taking Charge! Pt1

The Cadet team rocked up at SRK Rd4 with the sun shining but a member missing. With Leo unable to attend, Tom Crawley took the reigns as a stand-in. Up against revered locals, Tom who’d never attended the circuit before was on the back foot. This offered him & SCR an opportunity to show their worth. A quick track walk from the boss testing the drivers on their track knowledge kept them on topic but also offered Tom an idea of what he was trying to achieve.

Maya was first up, starting the opening race of the day from pole. A good launch allowed her to retain the lead for a couple of laps. A brave move from P2 at T1 caught Maya off guard. Some switched on defence ensured that the chasing pack didn’t get a sniff, holding P2 for the remainder of the heat. Jacob, fresh from his local victory, was out to prove his steel on a bigger stage & looked unphased as he converted his pole into a W. 2 places back in P3 was Oliver who had expertly fought his way up from last on the grid pulling some brave moves to bag solid points. Tom was caught napping off the start, distracted by his pedals as the lights switched to green. This disadvantaged Tom to the tune of 2 spots by T1. Once settled the established pace shone through as he hassled the back of the drivers ahead. Team games hit different to solo endeavours & it was clear that Tom was conscious of driving cleanly, pace good enough for the front converted to P4, finishing where he began.

All our drivers marched forward in H2 except Oliver who couldn’t as he led away from P1. He drove away convincingly, lodging a sub 25 second lap in the process with a kart he quoted as ‘Alright’. The field in his wake included a charging Jacob who mirrored his teammates’ attempt from the back by chalking up a P3 to draw level on points at the top of the event tree. Maya moved forward, picking up one spot, from her P4 grid. She put a determined drive that simultaneously allowed her to catch & hassle P2 whilst also holding P4 at bay. The pace suggested a win was on the cards but racing rarely matches the peak potential. Tom matched his earlier heat with a drive from P6 to P4, now fully focussed on how to nail this track.

Perpetual podiums!

The 2026 season of DRS was to be spent in the DRS50 category for Ethan & this year he’d be joined by SCR newcomer Oliver. The opener was held at a sunny Glan-Y-Gors, a circuit that requires bottle & a balance between aggression, patience & smoothness.

The day began with a great qualifying session where the boys used the draft to perfect effect to clinch an SCR lockout. Ethan claiming pole with Oliver a close P2. Ethan led the pack away & the lads sensibly kept in line working well together to create a small gap from the following pack. It's hard to lead the pack especially at a circuit where the draft makes such a difference, but Ethan proved more than capable as he set personal best after personal best. Oliver waited patiently, shadowing Ethan, leaving it late to pounce & slipped up the inside, with 2 laps to go to sn**ch the opening heat win. The day isn't won in the heat though & they would have to go again in the pre-final.

Following several false starts the pre-final got underway with P3 instantly taking advantage off the start. Both drivers losing out, running P3 & 4 in the early laps. The pair worked well together, bridging the gap to front 2. Oliver attempted a move on lap 3, a gap opened that allowed Ethan to jump both Oliver & the defender. It was a case of the pair chasing down the leader now; something they managed just in time for the chequered flag to drop. Ethan P2, with Oliver following closely in P3, both wishing for an extra lap.

The A final saw group A & B combined based upon points accrued. Ethan & Oliver started P1 & P3 respectively – arguably the best places to be. Ethan retained his lead & Oliver held the inside to seize P2. It was a simple case of keeping cool & hitting the apexes from here until the flag. The 2 were separated by less than 0.3 at the line with an impressive gap of 2 seconds. They both podiumed in every session & professionally pulled off a team 1,2.

This marked a perfect start to the year for both drivers, parents & the team. It also marked Ethan’s first event win on the national stage! It’s clear that both drivers will push each other on throughout the ’26 season & we’re here for it!

Bro’s Tied!

Rd6 of the CCJKC remained dry & sunny for the afternoon session where Jamie & Toby looked to recreate Jacob’s morning success. Toby had attained a 100% A final record this season & showed no signs of stopping as we entered the second half of the season. The results from the PM session were as follows.

Toby
H1: P1-P1
H2: P2-P2
H3: P5-P2
H4: P4-P1
A Final: P2-P3

Jamie
H1: P3-P2
H2: P4-P2
H3: P1-P1
H4: P3-P1
B Final: P4-P7

It wasn’t an easy ride, especially with Toby having to avoid a 3 kart pile-up in his 3rd heat as well as the pair facing off against one another in their races. After all this, the two were tied on points for P2,3 &4. The positions separated by lap time where Toby edged Jamie by less than a tenth.

Jamie’s kart bogged heavily from his P4 grid costing him time & positions. It was so poor he’d dropped to P7 on the short run down to T1. From this point on the race remained a stalemate with Jamie unable to gain any more ground & Toby keeping close to the front 2 but having to settle for the bottom step of the podium.

The A final streak for Toby continued & on this occasion he was rewarded with a neat trophy. This result moved him up to P6 in the championship & a dark horse for a top 3 overall. This marked Jamie’s last involvement in the Spring championship, choosing to focus on Hereford for the foreseeable. First First!

Rd6 of the CCJKC was dry & sunny. The regulars were joined by team mate Maya for the morning session looking to polish her skills with familiar faces. With the championship passing its half way stage, the drivers have a better perspective of what they’re looking to achieve. The results from the AM session were as follows.

Jacob
H1: P3-P1
H2: P4-P3 (Dropped to P5 due to pen)
H3: P1-P1
H4: P3-P1
A Final: P2-P1

Max
H1: P1-P1
H2: P5-P2
H3: P2-P3
H4: P4-P3
B Final: P3-P3

Maya
H1: P2-P2
H2: P2-P2
H3: P3-P4
H4: P5-P3
A Final: P5-P7

We’re absolutely delighted to celebrate Jacob’s maiden Combe round win. After a couple of years working at it, Jacob has now mastered the circuit in the dry & is adding race craft to his repertoire, displayed here by pushing hard, picking up a penalty, yet still persevering with rapid pace & efficient moves to qualify & the front of the A, converting comfortably.

Max has had the pace for sometime & showed it in his opening two heats but he struggled to make the moves in the latter heats. As one of the bigger drivers he benefits in the wet but lacks that top end to really make things happen in the dry. He’ll be back at Rd7 to prove me wrong.

Maya showed a real step up in performance, the speed is coming along whilst offering some great on track moves. The results don’t show the whole story as she battled with brakes in her opening race & was really hassling those in front in her final heat. The final was write-off, however, as she was half a lap down before completing the first lap due to contact.

A positive performance from all SCR drivers. A huge well done to Jacob; now we want more!If you’re willing to work for wins, check us out at, https://www.stallonicampioniracing.com/

Strong Start!

It was a long drive to the DRS40 opener in Glan-Y-Gors. Jacob, now with a season of 40s under his belt was looking to kick on & show his recent form wasn’t confined to local tracks. The weather was uncertain but thankfully a bright day greeted the drivers.

Practice was promising with Jacob completing the top 3 in his session, the closest to the front he’d run in this series. There was no time for congratulations however, as the rain fell. A different assignment altogether for qualifying. With spinners strewn everywhere & yellow flags galore Jacob failed to register a full flying lap leaving him irked, P12 & 3 seconds shy of the front runners.

The treacherous conditions continued into the afternoon as the heats began. Jacob’s experience clearly showed as he expertly glided up 5 places on the opening lap. A slow second lap as he reinforced his position before getting his head down to chase the drivers in front. Much concentration paid off eventually picking off the P6 on lap 6. An incident ahead was a welcome piece of fortune to complete a plus 7 run & finish P5!

Another strong start amongst the chopping & changing of the opening laps saw Jacob emerge up 1 place from his P5 start. A few laps later a small mistake on the exit of a corner & a train of 3 railroaded through. Jacob stuck to the back of the pack biding his time in P7 before pouncing on the final lap to take P6.

The A final was already a win as it marked Jacob’s first taste of the top tier finals at a national level. The opening lap was tricky dropping 2 places from his P16 start but importantly |Jacob had survived & had his head looking firmly forward. He latched on to another driver who was making moves through the field & wisely followed through picking up a position each loop for the following 5 laps. The hard, consistent work went in for the remainder of the race chasing down the pack ahead; Jacob managed one more in the final rotation to clinch an excellent P11.

A strong start to the 2026 season & a huge uplift in results relative to last year. There’s loads to learn for Jacob but being in the mix is the place to be. Check us out at: https://www.stallonicampioniracing.com/

Meteorological Masterclass! Pt3

Hugo ventured to Dunkeswell for the first time looking to improve on his debut performance. He had to wrestle with his best grid spot being his opening race with some established front runners close behind. A few spots were forfeited off the start but Hugo stuck to the front of the mid-pack, battling hard to keep hold of P6. The hail hammered for heat 2 where Hugo’s pace was electric, just 4 tenths off the winner. The fast layout makes battling tricky & in this stacked grid, Hugo managed to gain 3, rising from P10 to P7. The third heat looked promising from P8 & Hugo was comfortable on the wet surface carving his way up to P4. Just over mid-way, some pressure from behind tricked Hugo into a defensive line which led to an unfortunate spin & a view of the entire field’s rear. Some determined laps allowed for some last-ditch manoeuvres to reclaim P9. The positions lost would cost Hugo a higher final; P9 in the D didn’t sit right after the strong showing. The positive resolve would out, as Hugo fought his way up to P4, hassling the podium positions at the flag.

Aaron had one of the busiest days on track, adapting to every condition thrown at him. Strong pace in heat 1 didn’t convert as desired as he clung on the back of the pack unable to enact a move, settling for a frustrating P10. The frustration continued into heat 2 when the hail fell. Aaron began in P2 & registered a decent fastest lap but as the precipitation increased the visibility decreased. With Aaron struggling to see past a misted visor & the hail too painful to have it lifted, the consistency simply wasn’t there. Aaron bled a place here & there each lap to finish P11. Rainex applied & nothing to lose Aaron set about heat 3 with vim. The rain restarted, he set off from P7 & forced his way forward to finish P4. Luck had dealt Aaron pole in the E final. A disappointment for the reigning SRK3 champion but an assignment to convert, nonetheless. The karts were still being shuffled despite the rulebook dictating otherwise. This meant Aaron lost out on a deserved advantage over the rest of the field which was demonstrable as 4 drivers came past mid race. P5 at the finish.

Meteorological Masterclass! Pt2

Zack had rapid launches all day, beginning his first heat in P6 but taking the lead early on lap 1. He was closed in on by Alex at the end & did his best to ensure a noteworthy 1,2. Zack led away heat 2 in the pouring rain, executing a light to flag victory, holding off strong charges at the end. He rounded off his heats by storming through from P12 to lead on lap 2. Some varied lines in the hail meant the fastest line was only learnt after the lead was lost. P2 at the line. Zack completed the brace of A finalists for SCR offering a hard fought P6 after a poor start dropped him back in the pack.

Andrei had a steady start in the first bout of rain, where survival was the key. Doing so allowed him to move forward from P10 to P9. The conditions had completely dried by the time Andrei took to the track for the second time. This meant he had to learn the track again; unsure on how hard to push, combined with a more boisterous field led to a couple of mistakes & a drop back. The day became tougher in heat 3 after a good launch, Andrei locked up on the inside of T2, spinning across the incoming pack. No doubt caught out by the most recent downpour. Andrei did offer a strong recovery in his final to progress from P7 to P4 on what was, by now, a dry track again to show his resilience in tough conditions & set his fastest lap.

Lewis was also a newcomer to this track & had the tricky job of navigating his best grid start, P2, in his opening heat. Lewis impressed as he pulled away with the front pack, only leaking 2 positions in the process to claim P4. Lewis exhibited front runner pace in his, now dry, second heat but was unable to progress, finishing where he began in P10. Heat 3 capped off another fast performance notching up faster times in the wet than teammate Aubrey but falling foul of some contact dropping him back for another P10 finish. The D final start wasn’t representative of the speed Lewis had conveyed throughout. He was unable to get to grips with his kart & couldn’t replicate his earlier tempo, finishing where he started with a determined performance, in P8.

Meteorological Masterclass! Pt1

Dunkeswell offered up their GP layout for Rd2 of the SRK Sprints. Dry conditions quickly turned into rain, hail, drying lines, more hail and more rain… before finally drying out for the A Final. One of the toughest weather days we’ve seen in a long time, but the team kept pushing all day long. The team’s day was as follows:
Alexander showed incredible pace throughout the meeting in all weather. A solid performance to reel in teammate Zack from a large lead, working with drivers from other teams to ensure the best result was possible, fronting a team 1,2 in his opening heat from P3. Heat 2 went the same way from the fourth row, systematically working his way through to take another victory in the drying conditions. Heat 3 broke the mould, only managing P3 on this occasion. It was a stunning drive however, from P9 on the grid on an evolving circuit. Somehow these amazing results were only good enough for P2 in the A final. Alexander worked with the poleman, pulling away from the pack, biding his time, waiting for his move to take the win only for the flag to come out earlier than Alexander expected. Superb points & another great podium.

It was fantastic to welcome Aubrey back trackside for a guest appearance; his first outing of the 2026 season. He was immediately scrapping with the pack, offering strong drives. Firstly, dropping back from P5-P8 in the dry before 2 heats where he moved forward, P11-P8 & an excellent podium in heat 3, P4-P3. The forward momentum didn’t halt in the C final where he jumped from P8 to P6. Hopefully not the last we see of Aubrey this year.
Oskar had heaped pressure on himself after such a strong opening round. It was always going to be hard to recreate this at an unknown circuit. A mega drive through the field, from P12 to P5 in his opening heat offered some hope. P4 to P8 in his following heat offered decent pace but only after being swamped at T1, dropping him back in the pack. Heat 3 looked like an action replay of the race before, finishing in P7. A determined fight in the C allowed Oskar to follow Aubrey through from P10 to P8.

Weather Evolution!

It had been raining hard ahead of Rd2 of the Dunkeswell Rental Championship offering a challenge to drivers who were treated to the full circuit for the first time this season.

Enzo was in the middle qualifying group out of 3 meaning he had a slightly drier track than the session before but was at a disadvantage to the set that followed. Great early pace had Enzo vying at the front of the pack but as the circuit dried, his times didn’t improve where others did. At the flag it was P4 in the session which was enough to squeeze into the A final against the odds with 12 drivers still to benefit from favourable conditions.

Early progress in the A final saw Enzo climb 4 positions in the opening 3 laps. Once the race was settled, a ferocious battle for P8 ensued with Enzo trading places back & forth 5 places before an incident on lap 15 dropped him down to P10. Some further slicing & dicing in the closing laps kept Enzo on his toes, but he brought it home in P10 at the line. A penalty for an ABC undid the good work classifying Enzo P12, nevertheless a great result in only Enzo’s second club meeting leaves him P8 in the lightweight championship.

Charity Charge!

Racing awareness is a corporate charity series designed by to promote to raise funds & promote awareness for charities supporting inclusion, health and neurodiversity. An event that has been running for a few years that this season has morphed into a 3 round championship. SCR are proud to have been invited to each running of the event but have struggled to attend so far. Rd1 took place at Sandown Park where teams & drivers were racing in aid of ADHD UK.

2026 recruit Hugo was invited back as the reigning corporate champion, this time moving up a level to compete in the pro category. 3 hours of consistent laps over the Daytona based loop proved a challenge but Hugo showed he was up to the task, running in the top 3 most of the way. This form was only interrupted by pitstops where he picked up a speeding penalty dropping him back in the pack. It was P6 at the flag. A disappointing but solid start.

SCR hope to grace their presence at the remaining rounds to support this superb cause & get some practise in. Silverstone hosts Rd2 on 15th August. If you’re looking to make a difference, check us out at: https://www.stallonicampioniracing.com/
