What a summer it’s been for Dragons RFC Community!

We’ve spent the summer out across our region, from Skills Camps and sessions to roadshows, family fun days and a whole host of community events. 🏉

Plenty of rugby, plenty of activities and, most importantly, plenty of great memories made along the way. ❤️

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us this summer — whether you came along to a camp, caught us at an event or got involved with one of our activities.

And while that brings another brilliant summer to a close, there’s no time to rest for the Community team…

🐉 Community | Healthy Dragons 🏉❤️

Our award-winning Healthy Dragons Primary School Provision is being delivered in schools right across our region, helping children become healthier, more active and more confident.

We know that school budgets are incredibly tight and that finding funding for additional programmes isn't always easy. But we’re seeing some schools and their communities thinking outside the box to make it happen.

🎥 Cross Ash Primary School is a fantastic example.

The school loved the Healthy Dragons sessions and could see first-hand the benefits they were having on their pupils. Unfortunately, the school simply didn't have the budget available to continue the provision.

Rather than letting that be the end of it, their PTA stepped in and decided to fundraise to help cover the cost of weekly Healthy Dragons sessions because they believed so strongly in the difference the programme was making to their children.

That is exactly what community is about. 👏

Being a Healthy Dragons School offers much more than just our practical sessions. Schools also receive:

🏉 A dedicated Dragons Community Officer delivering curriculum-linked Healthy Dragons sessions
🏟️ Entry into our annual Healthy Dragons Tag Tournament, with the final at Rodney Parade, plus two additional festivals sponsored by KLA
🐉 Opportunities for pupils to meet Dragons players
🎟️ Two Dragons home fixtures as our community guests, with 35 complimentary tickets per fixture (30 pupils + 5 staff) and discounted parent tickets
🎁 Family match tickets to support school rewards, positive behaviour, parenting programmes and staff wellbeing
💷 Opportunities to access additional tickets for PTA fundraising and raffles
📣 Positive publicity for the school through Dragons Community social media and website channels
🔬 4 STEM workshops

Healthy Dragons is about creating opportunities that extend far beyond the classroom , combining physical activity, health, education, experiences and rewards to make a lasting difference.

A massive thank you to Cross Ash Primary School and their PTA for recognising the value of the programme and finding a way to make it possible. ❤️
