Back on the bank after a week away, and the fishery is absolutely firing. π£
Water is gin-clear at 13β14 Β°C, the boreholes are running flat out, and the loch is sitting at a lovely height. With the Summer Solstice on Saturday, you are looking at close to 18 hours of fishable daylight this week. There are not many fisheries in Scotland where that sentence applies, so make the most of it.
The pattern this week has been clear. Mornings and evenings are where the action is:
π
Morning β washing line with FABs and size 14 buzzers, fish right up in the surface film from first light.
π₯ Afternoon β fish drop to 2β3 ft, so go down to a midge-tip with a damsel, or pull a snake with some pace when there is a ripple.
π Evening (from 5pm) β back up top with dries and emergers. The evening rise has been the best session of the day.
Those reading the conditions and adapting are being rewarded. Those who are not are finding it tougher. That is midsummer stillwater fishing, and it is exactly what makes this place interesting.
π Stocking due very shortly β announcement to follow.
βΉοΈ Hut note: the fishing hut is a working office. If you need access on your visit, please ring ahead on 07727 360428 and I will sort it out.
Day rods Β£32.50 C&R, dawn to dusk. Evening rods Β£25 C&R (5pmβdusk, online only, max 4 rods, released 2pm on the day). Open Wednesday to Sunday, maximum 12 rods.
