The post I never wanted to have to write 💔
Starting this business in my Gran & Grandad’s garage with a free table off the side of the road, I never imagined I would be able to take it to where it is today. Having my brand used on the biggest stage in sport and for the first time seeing it on sky sports in an International game was a dream come true. Having customers from all over the world using kit that I handcrafted in little old Suffolk has truly been incredible.
I have put my blood, sweat and tears into this brand and given it my all in probably one of the hardest industries in the world to make it in. Competing against the biggest brands in the world with endless amounts of funding and mass production. I wanted to be different and I wanted to create a different experience from start to finish and I truly believe I created that.
After much thought and reflection, I have made the difficult decision to close The Crick3t Lab, effective 28th of November. This decision ultimately has come not from the business struggling but from not being able to get a mortgage being self employed. I am not able to pay myself the salary needed to get a mortgage without the business suffering and I have always put the business first. Now it’s time to put myself and family first. Running this shop has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, and I am truly grateful for the incredible support from my loyal customers, local clubs, and the wider cricket community. Your passion for the game and continued encouragement have meant the world to me.
I ask for one more big push from my customers as I still have stock in the shop available to buy and I will need to sell it all including machinery if anyone is interested. The last batch of bats is made and there is some stunners so don’t miss your chance to grab one while you still can.
Although it’s time to bring this chapter to a close, I will always cherish the friendships, memories, and love for cricket that we’ve shared. Thank you for being part of this journey and for supporting a small, local business.
This is goodbye for now but maybe not forever.
