Favourite Pro-isms
As a regular recipient of coaching from Andrew Knibbs, NRTC’s resident Pro, I am treated to a steady stream of observations, instructions, and occasional words of encouragement about my game (or, depending on the day, my lack of it). Much of this wisdom can be distilled into a few classic Pro-isms, some of which have become very familiar to me:
Pro: “Let the ball come to the racket.”
Me: (Sotto voce) Easier said than done.
Pro: “Head over the ball.”
Me: I know this. So why don’t I actually do it?
Pro: “Roof!”
Triumphantly announced when my carefully crafted dedans-bound shot sails onto the dedans penthouse instead.
Me: *%$*£!
Pro: “Now you’re in trouble!”
Gleefully shouted when my sky-high return lands on the dedans penthouse.
Me: I know. Please be kind...
