A fantastic 5 days of training with new friends and old, learning from training partners with over 25 years of real world knowledge. Learning from training partners with 6 months training. Rattan or Hickory
We train with Rattan Sticks the majority of the time, Rattan is more forgiving for beginner students. When training it absorbs some of the strike as well as being far safer as it ages.
Hickory has its advantages for advanced students, but it can shatter at anytime and those shards are dangerous.

Using the same concepts and techniques with or without a stick vs either option is a key element of Escrima Concepts training. Here a student is working on a simple takedown for the first time, we build up with minimal resistance for safety then increase the pressure and various attacker and defender combinations to experiment with the takedown ensuring they can apply it in any situation and develop an understanding of the underlying body mechanics, motor skills and concepts involved

This week I have something special for you all.
Guest Instructor 2nd TG Col Maggs will be teaching a class on the application of everyday carry improvised defensive tools. Torches, Phones, Pens and more can all be used to protect you in an emergency.

Col has been training martial arts for almost 20 years, has a 2 TG in Escrima Concepts as well as other Arts and has been a full time instructor for over 10 years. So make sure you can come along and make the most of this opportunity.
