We’re delighted to welcome Jason back after he had us in stitches at our last Comedy Night at The Links!

The driving force behind East Anglia’s award-winning Big Deal Comedy, Jason was a British Comedian of the Year semi-finalist in 2022 and is a Comedy Store King Gong winner. His brilliant mix of expertly crafted jokes, spontaneous crowd interaction and quick-fire wit makes him the perfect host for the evening.

An experienced stand-up known for imaginative, polished gags, hilarious storytelling and quick crowd work. Jay has performed at leading venues including The Comedy Store, The Glee Club, Hackney Empire and Indigo at The O2.

🦅 AN EAGLE ON THE 7TH 🦅

Not every day you see an eagle on the 414-yard par-4 7th — but Tyrone Green-Molloy produced one in spectacular fashion yesterday playing alongside Jack White.

With 250 yards left to a back pin, Tyrone pulled out his 5-wood and sent one sailing towards the green, only to lose sight of it as it dipped into the front bowl.

“We knew it was down there somewhere. Got to the green, couldn’t see it at the front or off the back, so I decided to check the hole… and there she was!”

A 250-yard hole-out for eagle. 🦅⛳

Now the No.2 ranked amateur golfer in the world, tees it up at Lahinch Golf Club against a formidable USA team — with a number of Links members making the journey to Ireland to cheer him on.

TOP 10 FINISH FOR LINKS LADIES ON THE NATIONAL STAGE 👏⛳

Huge congratulations to Sarah Greenall Marcella Tuttle and Jackie Ewing, who represented the club at the England Women’s Champion Club at Felixstowe Ferry Golf Club est. 1880, finishing a brilliant 8th out of 23 teams.

Competing against some of the best club golfers in the country, the trio produced a fantastic performance and did themselves and the Links incredibly proud.

It’s a wonderful achievement to represent the club on a national stage, and to come away with such a strong finish makes it even more special.

Marcella said, “Well, we’re still smiling! We finished 8th — and we reckon that’s a pretty respectable result for three seniors battling it out amongst all those youngsters who seem to be able to hit the ball a country mile!”

Congratulations Sarah, Marcella and Jackie, a brilliant result and fantastic representation of our club. 👏⛳

Jackie, Marcella and Sarah are representing the club this weekend in the England Women’s Champion Club event. This year it’s being held a bit closer to home at Felixstowe Ferry GC. Links, Newmarket qualified from winning the Ladies’ Cambs & Hunts Scratch League in 2025. There are 21 counties represented in the event. We finished 6th last year so hoping to climb up the leaderboard again! This is the 4th year in succession that Links, Newmarket have represented their club/county in this prestigious event. This is a 36-hole event played over 2 days where the aggregate from 2 x gross scores are taken on each day. We will do our very best!

The annual Cambridge vs Newmarket Ryder Cup-style showdown, supported by the Links Committee, took place under the August sunshine yesterday! ⛳️🏆

The morning saw 5 foursomes matches finish all square at 2.5 points each, before Cambridge took control in the afternoon singles, winning 6.5–3.5 across the 10 matches.

That gave Cambridge a 9–6 overall victory, retaining the bragging rights for a second year running! 👏

It’s great to see members putting on their own competitions and contributing to the strong competitive spirit and camaraderie that make the club so special.

Congratulations to everyone who took part and to Cambridge on the win. 🥥💪⛳️

Burns finds the lesser-seen albatross on the fifth

After a deluge of hole-in-ones over the past few weeks, an albatross was spotted on Monday afternoon, as Adam Burns hit driver, six-iron to make a two on the 496-yard par five fifth.

After pushing his drive into the rough on the forth, Burns was left with 180 yards to the green. He sent his six-iron high, cutting against the wind. The ball pitched around 15 yards short of the green before receiving a kind bounce that sent it tracking towards the hole.

With their view obscured by a bunker, neither Burns nor his playing partner, Jack Welford, saw where the ball finished. Assuming he had gone long, Burns grabbed his wedges and headed towards the back of the green, preparing to chip on.

He checked the hole just in case.

And there it was.

Burns described it as “the best golf shot I’ve ever played” — the highlight of a colourful round that also included an eagle on the 13th.

⛳ LICENCE TO THRILL: BOND AND HORSFIELD BEAT ODDS OF 17 MILLION TO ONE! ⛳

Congratulations to Richard Bond and John Horsfield, who both recorded holes-in-one on the 9th during the CADS Fred d’Souza Three Clubs and a Putter Challenge!

Richard made his ace with a 5-wood, while John found the cup with a 7-iron. Sharing the remarkable moment were their playing partners, Adam Platt and Dave Caicedo.

According to England Golf, the odds of two players making a hole-in-one on the same hole in the same fourball are an incredible 17 million to one!

A truly unforgettable round—congratulations to Richard and John! 🏌️‍♂️🎯
