Week 3 - WEIGHTED EXERCISES.
STRENGTH
It’s now time to get our hands on the free weights!
There are so many different free weights to choose from, such as dumbbells, kettle bells, wall balls, medicine balls and plates.
This is a brilliant way to start building confidence with weights and there are an unlimited amount of exercises to choose from to up the ramp on your workout and start progressing further with your strength.
Personally, when I first joined the gym there was no chance I would go to the weighted area where all the cable machines and weight machines were as my confidence was non existent to even dream of going there. I had no idea about form, how heavy to go, let alone what the machines were called and what muscles they worked. Fair to say I could have pictured myself being one of those people that other members would take a video of and post it all over social media because I would be swinging off a lat pull down thinking thats how it worked! 😬
That’s why I believe these small steps are an amazing way to not only make a start but to start understanding what exercises work what, how your body feels from these exercises and how many reps and sets are a perfect fit for you.
This workout is for both introductory & advanced, all you have to do it have a little play with what weight works for you. Anything between 3kg - 5kg would make a great workout.
Here are 4 exercises I would like you to give a go:
Once you have finished your first 12, rest for 30 seconds and go again for 4 rounds, then move onto the next exercise.
12 x Bicep curls x 4 rounds
12 x Tricep extension x 4 rounds
12 x Curtseys (each leg) x4 rounds
12 x Sumo squats x 4 rounds.
