Good morning everyone!

Firstly apologies that this years cup didn’t run, unfortunately weather didn’t play ball and has continued not to play ball for most of the back end of this year as anyone with a boat will testify too!

All prizes are here and not been touched including the two custom build rods and other sets we were kindly given and all will remain as prizes for next year and we will see if we can’t get some more to top it up!

We will be running it next year dates TBC and it will be over a weekend again to get maximum time on water for everyone.

More will be announced next year once we get our heads together 🙌🏻

Looking forward to seeing you all there 🙂

Good morning everyone 👋

Sorry for the silence on here, between school holidays, work and just life if it’s been a busy period but we wanted to just give a quick update on the cup.

The weather each year seems to be getting more and more unpredictable, this year we extended it to fish the whole weekend and moved it forward earlier in the year and yet we still lost both days and September so far has also been a wash out!

We will look ahead at some small tides and see if it’s worth rearranging but from having to do this before we know that participation numbers drop of a cliff due to folks and charter boats having existing commitments so we will decide if it’s worth it or not.

The good news is we still have all the prizes and they will simply be rolled into next year which means we don’t have to go looking forward we already have them ready 🙏🏻

Will keep you in the loop!

Well having seen 3 videos today all only about 6 miles off it was the right call today to call it off 🙏🏻

White horses, boats swinging all over and there has also been a boat sank at Shoreham earlier today (all hands rescued) though clearly may not have been weather related but yeah, a good call.

We shall look ahead at the next set of smaller weekend tides and come back to you asap with a revised date!

Good morning All

We have been checking the forecasts throughout the last few days and this morning unfortunately the forecast has got worse.

With more boats pulling out and the fact weather windows are very limited we have decided, regretfully, to CANCEL the Conger Cup this weekend.

The team will look at dates and tides in September and October and reschedule.

We have sponsors on board that we want to do justice and on this forecast it will stop many from attending.

We apologise for last minute cancellation but with the weather being so unpredictable last few weeks we have had to wait until this morning.

Sincere apologies

Jake and Ben

UPDATE 🎣

As usual the weather can’t just make it simple for us and it’s looking like we will lose at least one day of the two.

The issue we have as organisers is that there’s mostly small boats involved in this comp firstly and the second is there is some lovely prizes up for grabs worth a lot of money.

If it’s workable for the big boats only then lots don’t get a shot and the prizes are watered down somewhat and the small boats moan.

If we cancel it completely then the bigger boats that could get out also moan and either way we lose people when we reschedule 😅

Saturday looks Ok ish but some horrible north first thing and then 12mph offshore which will mean swinging about and then it goes horrible by 2/3pm anyways and Sunday is a write off as stands.

Will make a call tomorrow once it updates and try and work something but whatever we do is for the best of everyone rest assured.

Good evening!

The weather isn’t looking great for the weekend but let’s hope it improves.

A final decision will be made Friday morning as to whether the competition goes ahead.

We are allowing both electric and analog scales to be used this year. However video entries need to be clear and obvious.

Cheers

Providing this weekend goes ahead will anyone be needing the slip at Simpson Marine for launch and recovery?

If so please let them know asap by calling or popping in so they can be prepared.

Prizes and final details will be sorted later this week, weather looks up and down and we will make the call in a few days as we have lots of nice prizes and it’s only fair that everyone has a fair crack at the whip for them not just a handful of bigger boats or charters because the smaller ones are blown off but the bigger ones could still get out.

Those needing Simpson’s please call 🙏🏻

Just ONE week to go!! 👀

Now all eyes turn to the weather which currently is looking abit touchy. Certainly for the Sunday but with 7 days to go it may all change!

As always safety is number one priority and if we deem it not suitable for all boats to have a fair crack at it then we will shuffle the date to make sure everyone gets a shot at the prizes!

The prize table will be sorted this week coming and announced once we know what’s what but there’s some great prizes again and as a gentle reminder this a completly free event aimed at just having some fun and if you do win a prize please do tag the relevant companies or people in any posts you may do as without them we would have no prize pot!

CJ was out practicing with his team yesterday and putting some eels on the boat 🛥️

Myself and Jake are in Norway next week and then when we are back it’s full steam cup prep!

We have some more prizes to add which we will update you all on and then we will start assigning numbers to boats etc

We will close registration before the weekend of the cup so we can finalise numbers etc so if you haven’t added your boat yet and crews please so ASAP and start thinking about getting that bait freezer topped up if it’s not already 🙏🏻

NOT LONG NOW 👀🎣

One of our prizes this year is again a custom built rod by our good friend John who if you watch either of our channels has featured plenty and as have his rods which our simply stunning honestly and takes the experience of catching up a level. This years build is a slow jigging rod coming at 7.2ft and best worked with jigs between the 100-180g range and is finished off in a lovely blue and silver fade and has “Conger Cup Winner 2025” on the side. Lovely Fuji reel seat and spiral wrapped eyes. This is gonna be a treat for whoever gets it!
