Dartford may have been under a rather large cloud today, but the team have been hard at work scarifying, fertilising and overseeding ’s natural turf ground.

We last visited racecourse back in November, as we usually vertidrain the course twice annually, to keep the ground in optimum condition.

Allowing oxygen back into the soil and breaking up compaction not only aids root growth, but crucially helps to reduce surface hardness, providing a consistent surface to help prevent injuries on race days.

Over recent months we have been completing a number of works on 36000m2 of natural turf pitches, at Chilmington Green School, near Ashford:

Weekly grass cutting
Verti-draining
Overseeding
Fertiliser
3 x 400 tonnes of sand topdressing

With a new addition to the fleet in the form of a Kubota L2-622 tractor. This is a premium, high-performance compact utility tractor, designed for professional commercial ground care use, and will be used in our day-to-day operations, mainly topdressing, verti-draining and overseeding.

Works at Chilmington Green School include maintenance services until we hand over to the school in September.

Our new Shelton 6 tonne universal sand and gravel hopper was put to the test on its first outing, with 600 tonnes of Washed Sports Sand to spread across three polo fields at

Another collaboration with sand from , delivery by and spreading by , along with vertidraining and raking in.

The design of our new hopper allows for three uses, including filling drain runs, spreading material via the attached spinners and filling secondary hoppers with the attached elevator. Multiple tasks, more efficiency!
