Newcastle upon Tyne Unitarians

Newcastle upon Tyne Unitarians Newcastle upon Tyne Unitarians meet at 11am every Sunday - all welcome! Email us to get details! You can also join us online via Zoom. Email to get the link.

We are meeting via Zoom and in person at our new meeting place: the Large Spiritual Commons Room in Northumbria Student Central. We welcome all who seek the meaning of life, and who believe that human spirituality is wider than any one tradition, and deeper than any one set of opinions. With a respect for our Christian origins, we seek to explore all truths from all sources. Our fellowship gives u

s strength and encouragement in daily living. We are now back in our building for services, see below for how to get here. If you are coming to our church building by car, you can park in the big public car park near the church, or, if you have a disabled parking badge, there are spaces in front of the church entrance. If you are struggling to find a parking space, drive to the front of the church (turn right past the University's Wynne Jones Building, follow the road around) and ask inside - any of the church's regular attendees should be able to help you find somewhere to park! If you are travelling by public transport, we are 15 minutes' walk from Central Station, and about 10 minutes' walk from the Haymarket bus and Metro station. If you are cycling, there is space within the building for you to store your bike and get changed.

Join us as we launch a new series of midweek gatherings in the heart of the city centre with Stillness at the Solstice.

We invite you to pause from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enter a space of calm reflection and gentle presence.

Through short readings, music and guided moments, we create space to slow down and reconnect with ourselves. There is no religious requirement or expectation to share, and all are welcome to join.

Our first session on Wednesday 24th June is inspired by the Summer Solstice, a moment of light and fullness in the year 🌞

✨🌿 What a brilliant day at Walmsley Unitarian Chapel! 🌿✨

Today we welcomed 25 people from across the country for the Lay Worship Leading Training Day, a joyful gathering of Unitarians supporting one another, sharing skills, and deepening connections.

A huge thank you to Unitarian College for their inspiring instruction, and to NELUM (North and East Lancashire Unitarian Union District) for making this possible. We’re proud to have hosted such a warm, collaborative event here at Walmsley Unitarian Chapel. πŸ’›

Our next service will be at 11am on Sunday 14th June, it will be led by Kainara Motta, on 'Yoga and Non-Stealing'. She says:
"Join us for a gentle guided meditation inspired by Asteya (non-stealing), one of the ethical principles (Yamas) within the eight limbs of yoga. Together, we will cultivate presence, deepen awareness, and explore what it means to live with contentment, integrity, and gratitude for what is already here. Through quiet reflection and mindful contemplation, this practice invites you to connect with the present moment, release feelings of lack, and nurture a sense of inner abundance and peace.”
We will be in the Large Spiritual Commons Room at Northumbria University for worshipping in person and online. Here's the joining information:

It’s Pride Month πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ

We are proud to share that the Unitarians have been at the forefront of the struggle for LGBTQ+ equality. We were among the first to offer same s*x marriage ceremonies in the UK after decades of offering same-s*x blessings prior.

Today, we recognise the fight for the LGBTQIA+ community is as important as ever. We are committed to honouring our roots by advocating for the rights of marginalised groups, and our gatherings are a safe space for all.

All are welcome here πŸ•―οΈ
