July Hockey specific Performance, session 1 completed ๐๐
Northern Edge Sports and Cyclestudio summer conditioning sessions for multiple sports.
Today was the start of a summer long series of sessions for our Ice Hockey players.
Our coaches couldn't have been more impressed with the efforts and attitudes of our players today who attended the first session.
3 groups today with age range of under 12s, under 14s and seniors.
The groups completed a Submaximal Ramp Test to establish their own individual Threshold of endurance with Paul, our PerformanceSports Science coach. This data allows our coaches to be 100% accurate in administrating the correct intensity required for any specific sport. Next week our players will have their individual targets to hit to progress them in muscular endurance....the key metric to unlock a faster hockey athlete, able to have fresh legs in the 3rd period of games!
Our Pilates session from our highly experienced coach Lara, challenged the players in discovering their limits and imbalances in various muscle groups. A tough but fun session that will progressively build each week to contine to develop the essential core, and rotational strength needed for a stronger hockey player and also helping to reduce likelyhood of injuries in the future.
Finally our players completed a shooting assessment with shooting coach Gary, who's expertise and experience in ice hockey is second to none, helping each player through a series of shooting assessments and recording the results. A re test of all data will take place later in the summer to check the progression, but most importantly the players will have had a solid summer of hockey off ice conditioning, ready to start the 2023/24 season in their best shape ever! ๐
We look forward to hosting Northumberland Tennis academy in coming weeks and our regular Triathlon academy athletes for some summer testing.
