🐴 lesson availability for new riders 🎉

If you’ve always fancied giving riding a go or you have a child who loves spending time with animals, we can help!

Level 1 classes are available Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and are the perfect introduction. No need to commit, you can book one offs and we supply you with a helmet and boots.

During each 45 minute class, our coaches will help you develop into a calm, confident and kind rider. You’ll learn how your brain and your horses’s brain are the same and also how they are different 🧠. You’ll learn how to use your body to follow and direct the horse’s movements and how to communicate using your body.

For those who want to ease in slowly, we can also provide coaching on Max - our mechanical horse. Max is ideal for new or returning riders.

This morning we wave off fabulous Frank and Daniel as they return to bishop_burton_equine. Both boys have been a fabulous addition to the Stepney squad over the summer; endlessly patient, kind and willing. We’re incredibly grateful to Fran and the team at Bishop Burton for trusting their care to us for the summer months, they’ve brought so much joy. Thank you Frank and Daniel and hope to see you next year! 🫶

A bit of a different post for us, but an exciting one!

It's no secret that, as a charity, it's a continuous financial balancing act to ensure the welfare, education and positive enjoyment of our horses, the brilliant young people who attend our alterntive provision and youth programmes and our lovely commercial riding customers.

More and more, the ability to create new revenue streams plays a key part in the sustainability of an equestrian facility and to underpin the work we do for people within our community and it must continue for years to come.

We've had much welcome investment into our facilities and we are super proud of the spaces that have been created and how we might use them.

So... under our 'Time with Us' brand, we have launched our non-equestrian leadership training and development options for teams from businesses large and small. Not only that, we have not one but two fully equipped meeting spaces available for hire (don't worry, there's plenty of opportunity for interaction with the horses should you so desire!).

🐴 Ride Safe training 🐴

The BHS Ride Safe program is designed to help riders navigate a variety of environments safely, including roads🚗, beaches🏖️ and countryside🍃 whilst interacting with other route users responsibly. Ideal for anyone thinking of getting their own horse or a loan horse.

We will be offering two 2 hour training sessions on Thursday 17th September 5.30-7.30 and Thursday 25th 5.30-7.30. Both sessions are required to complete the award.

The cost is £75 per person. The price includes assessment and booklet. The minimum age for participation is 11 and riders must be level 3 or above. External candidates welcome but you must book an assessment session first.

We’ve been closed for the last 3 days to get some VERY important jobs done!

✅ the back yard has been resurfaced and is the most beautiful thing we’ve ever seen (the first horse to 💩 on it will break our hearts 😂)

✅ we’ve removed bars between stables so horses can touch each other. Social contact is vital for wellbeing 🧡.

✅ 2 new huge stables (which can be opened to create one MEGA stable) has been built at top yard and populated with new arrival Penny! Welcome Penny 🤎

✅ pony barn now has a sandpit so that our ponies can choose between sand, shavings, rubber and straw as surface options🐴.

✅ the team have had time together to discuss lesson plans, coaching strategies and reviewed feedback to ensure we are providing the best service possible to all of our user groups. We’ve also looked at our individual strengths and where we can focus our efforts to get even better! 💪

We’re ready to hit the ground running tomorrow as we welcome our Alternative Provision students and resume evening lessons.
