We have four senior men’s teams.

With 125 years of history and in the heart of Jesmond, Newcastle Cricket Club provides a friendly welcome 364 days of the year. Through our partnership with the Royal Grammar School, the club is open to all in the community who want to watch or participate in sport. Following our recent £140k refurbishment we offer activities to all ages genders and abilities whether you’re interested in playing

cricket, disability activities, relaxing in our pavilion bar, celebrating a wedding or just wanting to sit in the sun and watch a bit of cricket. Our first, second and third teams who play in the North East Premier League as well as a mid-week C Division team playing in the Northumberland League. Training:
-Tuesdays from 6pm- 1st and 2nd XI training
-Thursdays from 6pm- Full club training


WOMEN’S SENIORS
We are delighted to offer two ways to become involved in women’s cricket:
-Weekly workout on Wednesday evenings- all welcome, no experience necessary!
6:30-8:00 at the Jesmond Cricket Ground
-Our development squad plays 8-a-side matches in the Northumberland

Women’s Development League. If you’re age between 14 and 104, you’re very welcome to get involved. Training nights take place from 6.30 till 8pm (weather permitting). THE WASPS- Newcastle Cricket Club Juniors
The WASPS provide youngsters the opportunity for youngsters to get involved in crickets on both a competitive and recreational level:
-Junior Training – every Friday evening, 6.30 till 8pm throughout the season from April through till September for ages 7 to 15. All abilities welcome, no experience required.
-Competitive Cricket – we have five teams for both boys and girls who play within the Northumberland League championship for under 13s. For more information, contact us at [email protected]

The newly refurbished Pavilion offers a unique venue at a remarkably reasonable rate. It’s the perfect venue for your event, all year round. Including:

There was another exciting night of U15s cricket last night. At Morpeth, with a couple of top order batters missing, the Yellows collapsed to 46-8, with four ducks, in 10.2 overs. At this point the girls came together to rescue the innings with what was effectively a last wicket partnership (with one player stuck on the A1). First they steadied, then they accumulated and then they accelerated. After an excellent unbroken 55 run partnership, we reached 101-8 from our 20 overs. With our strong bowling lineup, this was a total we felt we could defend. And so it proved. Where the batting had faltered, the bowling shone. Backed up by some good catches, we restricted our hosts to 79-8 to record an excellent 22 run victory and maintain our 100% record for the season.

Meanwhile, at Heaton, the U15 Blacks are becoming specialists in entertaining the crowds with close games. Batting first, we recovered from 4-3 to post 107-8. In this league, it’s the kind of first innings score where both teams feel like they have a decent chance. Our young team, bolstered by some 11 year old debutants, bowled excellently. The game went right down to the wire, with Riding Mill requiring five to win from the last over. A bye off the final ball of the match brought the scores level to give the Blacks the unlikely record of tied matches two weeks running. Everyone knows ‘catches win matches’ but who knew ‘byes make ties’?

A day earlier, it had been another good day for the U13s. The Wasps chased 117 for victory against Ashington, at Heaton. And at Morpeth the Bees chased down 113, despite a rare hit wicket dismissal whilst the scores were level. All good preparation for the cup final on Wednesday evening.

With one of the U11 opponents unable to field a team, we just had one team in action this week. We batted well at Benwell Hill but the bowling was a bit looser than we would’ve liked, allowing the home side to pass our score quite comfortably.

Wednesday evening saw both women’s hardball teams in action again. The 1sts were at Stocksfield while the 2nds hosted Benwell Hill. Unfortunately we came second in two low scoring matches but there were still some impressive performances from a number of players.
