Ponteland Community Primary School

Ponteland Community Primary School In order that they may have live and have it abundantly. (John 10:10) Dr Caroline Pryer
(1)

We are an ‘outstanding school where children thrive’ [Ofsted 2008, Ofsted 2013] and continue to develop the school with our Student Voice, Parents’ Forum and Governors. KS3 children have said they 'feel they have developed as people'; Ofsted said the school 'permeates positivity and calm' and that Y5 children make rapid progress so when they reach Y8 their attainment is well above national average [Ofsted 2013]. Our pupils say that they like to be fit and healthy and that is what makes them happy which makes our Sportsmark accreditation so important to everyone. You are welcome to browse around our new website and contact me if you would like to meet, chat or have a ‘real-life’ tour of school.

🌍✈️ EYFS Around the World Week!🌎🗺️

Throughout the week, the children have been exploring different cultures, countries and languages, developing their understanding of the wonderful world around them. They enjoyed learning about different traditions and even had a go at some dances from around the world.

Our little explorers also discovered different forms of transport and got creative by designing and building their own vehicles using junk modelling and a range of building materials. The children used their imagination, problem-solving skills and teamwork to bring their ideas to life.

The highlight of the week was our very own role-play airport! The children created their own passports, chose their dream destinations and proudly presented their boarding passes before setting off on their imaginary adventures.

It has been a fantastic summer with our EYFS children.

We look forward to welcoming all our students back to school next week and listening to their stories of summer.

Week 5 – Castles and Fairytales 🏰✨

What another wonderful week of learning, exploration and exciting opportunities for our nursery children!

This week, the children have been immersed in the magical world of castles and fairytales. They explored shape, measure and size, while revisiting the importance of working together as a group to create a fantastic large junk-model castle.

The children also developed their fine motor skills through tracing castles, drawing their own designs and creating castles using dough. Our older children have been working hard to recognise the letters in their names and practise writing them.

We explored story maps and talked about how stories are structured. The children then had a go at putting The Three Little Pigs into the correct sequence, developing their understanding of story order and recall.

Music sessions were a particular favourite this week! The children marched like knights and stomped like dragons to the beat, learning to stop and start as the music changed. This was a fantastic opportunity to develop their listening skills, rhythm and ability to respond to sounds.

The children also enjoyed creating their very own royal crowns, before making the most of our outdoor learning opportunities. Time spent outdoors continues to encourage their imaginations, creativity and gross motor development.
