Backworth Cricket Club Backworth Cricket Club is a local club set in the grounds of Backworth Golf Club. Founded in 1874 and a great place to spend your summer!

We have four senior sides - two which play on a Saturday, a 3rd team which plays on a Sunday and a T20 team which plays on Thursday evenings. In addition to this we have a thriving junior section which fields teams at under 18, under 15, under 13 and Under 11 levels. Anyone is welcome at Backworth, players or non players! 🏏 WEEKEND RESULTS 🏏

3 wins out of 3 for our senior teams over the weekend.

The 1st XI chased 212 set by Ponteland with the help of 50s from Matthew Nice and Joel Langley, after a great fightback with the ball and in the field.

The 2s dismissed Blagdon for 111 - Matthew Blake leading the attack with 4 wickets. Captain Mooney top scored in the chase to pick up the full 30 points.

Our Academy XI bowled Silksworth out for 96 and chased it down for the loss of 4 wickets, lead by a mature and confident knock from young Kai Pattison, finishing on 58 not out.

🌟What a year it’s been for our Girls’ Section!🌟

We finished the 2025 season with just 3 Under 12 girls, and since then we’ve gone from strength to strength…

🏏This year, over 20 girls aged 8–12 have represented the club in softball festivals and matches, and even in a composite ball match! Some of our girls have also taken the exciting step into our Women’s Softball, and mixed hardball Under 11 teams.

It’s been fantastic to see friendships and confidence develop throughout the season. We’re incredibly proud of the girls’ commitment, dedication, positive energy, and how much they encourage one another! 💚

🗓️We’re cramming in as much cricket as we can before the season ends in September, before heading indoors in the autumn and winter.

🎯Our aim is to build on this season’s success and establish two girls’ age groups, playing a variety of softball and hardball formats.
