We greeted two newcomers to GoodGym Newcastle tonight. Welcome to Elena, not new to GoodGym but joining us in Newcastle for the first time. We're very glad that you made it just in time! Another warm welcome to Joanna, completing her first GoodGym good deed tonight. Hopefully the first of many! We hope to see you in your red GoodGym t-shirt soon!

Tonight's task was to visit The Lighthouse Project to clear some weeds from their garden. The level of effort from everyone tonight was very impressive and at least eight large bags were filled with weeds. Task owner Jo and the other staff seemed pleased with our efforts!

We'll be back at The Lighthouse Project in two weeks. Next Monday sees us volunteering at Jesmond Library for the first time in seven years. Please join us if you can!

Three GoodGym sessions yesterday afternoon. A visit to Greenhill Allotments and two leaflet delivering sessions in Gateshead for Dunston Fair!

Three GoodGym sessions tomorrow! Delivering the final leaflets to promote Dunston Fair and helping out at Greenhill Allotments.

Two sessions running simultaneously, so two good deeds possible for anyone that is really keen! Everyone welcome, we’ll put the sign up links in the comments.

Three GoodGymers visited Dunston for the final Monday to deliver some more leaflets for Dunston Fair.

For the first time in quite some time we got a little bit wet on a Monday night, but fortunately the worst of the rain stayed away until we were finished. We delivered leaflets to most of the streets in the immediate vicinity of Dunston Park that hadn't received them before, venturing right up to the entrance to the park at one point. Three of us managed to deliver 500-550 more leaflets, which given the layout of the streets we were quite impressed with.

There are two further, and final, Dunston Fair leaflet delivering sessions this Saturday. Please check the session listings and come along if you can!

GoodGym Newcastle branched out and headed south of the Tyne again to deliver more Dunston Fair leaflets tonight. It was a very pleasant evening for a stroll around the mostly terraced streets we targeted.

In the course of our leafleting we stumbled upon Gateshead Central Baptist Church, which we now know has cycle racks outside it. Then we unexpectedly came across an Eritrean church which we didn't know was there. An interesting route for a walk tonight and many hundreds of leaflets delivered!

We'll be delivering Dunston Fair leaflets for the final Monday next week. Please come and join us, but please read the listing carefully!

Our main group run is on Monday nights at 6:15pm, but did you know you can volunteer to help charities and community groups at other times of the week?

Lucy collected for Marie Curie at Byker Morrisons on Sunday. No yellow hats were worn and it was relatively quiet, however high spirits were all around.

This was the third of an as yet unknown number of sessions delivering leaflets to support Love Dunston and getting the word out about their summer fair later this month. Five (yes - five - on a Wednesday afternoon!) GoodGymers walked 5.5km and delivered another few hundred leaflets.

We discovered:

• Dunston is very hilly in places.
• Some houses on hills in Dunston have lots of steep steps up to their letterboxes.
• Lots of houses in Dunston have animal themed ornaments in their gardens!

I've included our Strava map for your admiration - it turned out to be quite an efficient coverage of streets quite close to where the fair is going to be held. Plus, as some of you know, I love a leaflet delivery Strava map!

We have at least one more session with these leaflets at our group run on Monday, and possibly more to come. Check out the website!

Three GoodGymers spent Monday evening delivering leaflets for Dunston Fair around the Teams and Dunston area of Gateshead. Abbie, making her GoodGym debut, and Richard ran from Stepney Bank Stables along river, while Louise made her own way to the meeting point.

That area of Gateshead isn't the easiest in which to deliver leaflets, with some interesting street layouts. We've delivered leaflets in the same area numerous times before so are used to it.

Thank you very much to Abbie for coming along from Darlington for the first time and we hope the journey home was smooth!

Five GoodGymers ran, walked and cycled to Dunston to deliver some leaflets to promote Dunston Fair. It was a very pleasant Monday evening with some glorious views across the River Tyne.

We zigzagged around the slightly unusual street layout, an area we have delivered leaflets in several times before. It was a successful evening, with lots of steps accumulated, but there are many more leaflets to deliver. We'll be back next week for more of the same, please join us if you can!

On a pleasant Saturday afternoon in Cowgate, we visited Greenhill Allotments, a place we have been many times in the past. The task today was to clear the overgrown area around the border, near the fence.

We transported several wheelbarrows full of weeds and waste to the skip. The skip was looking rather full, so we also filled several large bags. The area was looking much better when we had finished.

Louise managed to find a dislocated knee joint in the undergrowth, thankfully too small to be human. Meanwhile Scott retrieved quite a large amount of broken glass. You never know what you will find in the long grass!
