We’ve received a massive boost for our lane rope appeal! Thanks to three generous grants awarded through The Good Exchange —including £500 from Newbury Town Council via their Community Grants scheme, £500 in matched funding from Greenham Trust, and a brilliant £1,625 from Greenham Trust’s Peter Baker Grant Round (https://greenhamtrust.com/community-grants-committee-spring-2026-awards/)—we’ve secured an extra £2,625 in funding! 🏊‍♂️💥

A huge thank you to both Newbury Town Council and Greenham Trust for supporting our swimmers. Combined with all the amazing individual donations from our members and local community, we’ve now reached 96% of our original £4,000 target!

Grace had a strong 1500m swim this afternoon to kick start her National qualifications!

Seems like a short distance when you then realise she has to swim 7.5km for her Open Water swim!!

Well done Grace, you’ve had a busy few months plus your final school year exams to then go and tackle some major National swims, you should be proud of yourself 💛🖤

We are off to a great start with the fundraiser, and a huge thank you to everyone who has donated so far! Your support means the world to us. We still have a way to go to reach our target, but this is a fantastic beginning.

If you've been poolside at Northcroft recently, you might have noticed the exact reason we need this appeal: we are currently down one lane rope due to a frayed cable. In its current state, that missing rope is completely unusable and has had to be taken out of action entirely.

With Club Championships approaching, some volunteers are attempting a tricky temporary repair by rethreading floats from the broken rope onto a new wire; without this effort, we may have to race without a full set of anti-turbulence lane ropes. This is a challenging fix that is proving difficult to get to hold, and while we are incredibly grateful for the hard work, it remains a difficult task and is strictly a temporary patch-up rather than a permanent solution.

🏊‍♂️ New Lane Ropes for NDSC! 🏊‍♂️

​Our lane ropes at Newbury District Swimming Club have served us well, but they are now worn out, broken, and showing their age.

​To keep our training sessions running smoothly and ensure our swimmers have the best possible environment, we need to replace them with a brand-new set.

Congratulations to Ethan Masters, who took on a huge personal challenge recently for an incredible cause! 🏊‍♂️💪

Taking part in a 24-hour sports event at David Lloyd Newbury in aid of New Life Special Care Babies Ethan was challenged to swim a continuous mile. Having never swum that far in one go before, Ethan dug deep, dug out some backstroke when the tiredness hit, and completed the 80 lengths (1600m) in a brilliant 34 minutes and 22 seconds!

Through his hard work, Ethan raised an amazing £673 (including Gift Aid) to help local special care baby units. His efforts contributed to a massive £45,000 weekend total for the charity, which is enough to purchase a brand-new incubator for Reading! 👶❤️

We are incredibly proud of your determination and effort, Ethan! Well done! 👏👏

A winning performance from Chester at the European Biathle Qualifier in Cheltenham this weekend! 🥇

He finished more than 13 seconds ahead of the field in the U11 category, using a strong swim to pull away from the competition. This result means he has qualified as the British number one for the European Biathle Championships in Madeira this June.

It is great to see all that hard work in the pool paying off on the national stage. Well done, Chester!
