Hi Facebookers,

Winter season now well underway.
Last Thursday 1st and 2nd teams beat their Maidenhead counterparts. Mixed fortunes on Monday in the Vets. 1st team took a major beating 4/20 to Temple Wycombe whilst the 2nd team were awarded a walkover against Team Caversham.

Next match 12th Oct

1st team away to arch rivals Herongate
2nd team at home to Wellington 3

Oh by the way internal tournaments are about to start. Get your entries in!

Mixed fortunes last night. 1st Team beat University 2 in a tight match. Dudley and Ahmed got us off to a great start with 2 3/0 wins. Then the wheels came off with slightly out of form Neil and Kevin going down 2/3 and 1/3 respectively. however after a slightly shaky start Fiona managed to win the deciding rubber 3/1 and clinching the match result. Next match (penultimate of the summer) therefore likely to be the title decider against Caversham.

The 2nd team were away and suffered a heavy defeat to unbeaten top of the table Camberley. Josh managing to score our only point. However we remain out of the relegation zone with 2 hopefully easier matches left to play.

Great wins for Nuffield last night. 1st team beat Caversham H&F 4/1 and 2nd team managed a valiant 3/2 victory over Marlow. Well done everyone! Big question is, how did Mike do?!

Nuffield v Temple Wycombe Promotion Play Off Result

Sadly Nuffield missed out on promotion last night after a close battle eventually losing out 3/2. Fletch recently back from injury struggled against a tricky opponent and lost 3/0. Phil was up against it playing Wade Kirkaldie. He managed to save 2 match balls in the 4th but unfortunately wasn't able to close out the 5th. So 2/0 down but still a chance. Dudley put in a very impressive performance to win and give hope of a come back. Fiona battled hard and took her match to a fifth game but alas just lost out too. With little consolation, I was able to win my match 3/1. So a very close result. Well done team a very respectable performance against a strong team who last year beat us 5/0. Roll on the summer!

Last match of the Season Report.

The 1st team had a big task on their hands to secure enough points for the "play off" spot in Division 2B. We were up against rivals Maidenhead who were 9 points behind but on paper the stronger team. It was possible to lose and still secure 2nd spot but the permutations were endless. The best thing to do was simply win. We did!!!

It was a great battle eventually winning 3-2, 17 points 8. Well done 1st team!!! We've now earned the right to play our other close rivals Temple Wycombe away on I believe 27th April though date to be confirmed.

The 2nd team had a walkover last night with Team Caversham unable to field a team. This puts us firmly in 2nd promotion spot but not yet secured. We have an outstanding postponed fixture to be played against Camberley 2 next week. A win will secure automatic promotion. Good luck guys!!!
