A friendly 'Member's' golf club with a beautiful & interesting golf course always in great condition. Whether you’re looking to ‘get into’ the game of golf or join a club that is friendly and welcoming then why not get in touch? Our course is beautiful & suitable for anyone from juniors to seniors; it really makes you think and is a truly wonderful test of golf no matter what your handicap or playing ability is. After an incredible day of golf, three players finished tied at 136 (-2):
• Peter Townsley (10hcp) – 70 / 66
• Alden Willoughby (8hcp) – 69 / 67
• Alex Davidson (4hcp) – 69 / 67

That meant a 4‑hole playoff across holes 1, 11, 12 & 13 to decide the 2026 Fairhurst Cup champion.

Alden Willoughby struck first, taking a one‑shot lead after the 11th, but the drama was far from over. On the 12th, Alex Davidson holed out for a stunning eagle, with Pete Townsley adding a birdie to pull everyone level on handicap heading to the final playoff hole.

Under pressure, Alex held his nerve brilliantly with a two putt par and secured victory by a single stroke on the 13th.

Newbury & Crookham Golf Club – Jack Hughes Club Championships

Congratulations to our winners at today’s Jack Hughes Club Championships.
• Overall Winner - Jack Hughes Trophy and Seniors Memorial Trophy – Chris Harrison with an outstanding score of 70 + 71 = 141.
• 2nd Place and 4–9 Salver Winner – Rob Low with an excellent 72 + 71 = 143.
• 10–18 Salver Winner – Tony Ruczynski with a hard-fought 75 + 83 = 158.

Well done to all competitors for making it another fantastic championship day. A full report, including photographs and more results, will follow in the coming days.

Day 1 of the Jack Hughes Club Championships delivered drama, tension, and some seriously sharp scoring.

Chris Harrison leads the way with a superb 70 (+1), holding a narrow 1-shot advantage heading into Sunday. He’ll be joined in the final group by Laurence Berry (+2) and Dave Gray (+3).

The race for the 4–9 Salver is wide open, with a pack of contenders lurking just below the leaders.

Meanwhile, in the 10–18 Salver, Tony Ruczynski set the pace with a 75 (+6), earning himself a 4-shot cushion, but in golf, nothing is certain until the final putt drops.
