Fernwood Sword Club We promote the sport of fencing and physical fitness in a fun, safe, environment in Newark. We offer

A lack of facilities for fencers, new and old, led to Andrew forming the Club as a means of providing facilities to existing fencers in the Newark and Grantham area, and to introduce fencing to the area to create fencers of the future. The Club meets on Tuesday evenings (post Covid, with limited Leisure Centre opening hours, this is from 7.30-9 for both Juniors and Seniors) at Newark Sports and Fi

tness Centre, Bowbridge Road, Newark. Fernwood fences and teaches foil primarily, but we do some epee and sabre as well. As well as having a number of social and younger competitive fencers, the club has produced a member of the Junior GB Pentathlon squad and GB U-17 and U20 mens foil squad members.

Last session of the year this evening, with a chance to practise some (piratical?) close up fencing. Happy Christmas and New Year to all our fencers and their families!

A quick reminder that there's no fencing this evening, as the hall's closed at the leisure centre. We're on next week (the 23rd), with some stuff planned (not involving ladders or hoops.....). We're then having a break on the 30th and will be back to it on Tuesday the 6th.

Hi all, just a reminder we are unable to train on 16th December as the sports centre is closed.

We are looking for an idea of numbers on 23rd December.

We will have our usual Xmas break week on 30th December and will be back for 2026 on 6th January 2026.

Hi everyone, we have just heard that the leisure centre will be closed 31st May - 3rd April so there will be no session on 1st April. (This is not and April Fool early!!). Apparently they are updating lighting.

Well done to Ed H for anchoring the RAF MF team to win gold in the UKAF Championships (and winning silver in the individual). Nice to see one of our former fencers, Ross, competing for the RAF as well.

Also well done to Ed C for bronze today in the St Benedict's Open.
