Enjoy the first class facilities and excellent food and drink on offer in our spacious clubhouse, that was first opened in 2007. The club was founded in 1993, on the estate of the popular Southwell Racecourse, some 2 miles from Southwell and 5 miles from the market town of Newark. The front nine holes are located in the centre of the racecourse and features our signature hole, the 7th, a straightforward par 3 - as long as you ignore the water between the tee and the island green - our equivalent to the 17th at Sawgrass!!!

Southwell Golf Club held its Ladies Autumn Leaves Am-Am today with 16 teams of 4
enjoying great weather on the course followed by an excellent 2 course meal in the clubhouse. The greens staff had worked hard to prepare the course and it was good to hear the positive comments from visiting golfers on the excellent condition of the greens and fairways.

The winning team with 81 points was the team from Golf Club, Linda Ranscar, Rikki Czjakowski, Sarah LoveSarah Love and Sheena Jamieson who took top spot on countback from the Runners-Up Denise Brocklehurst, Mandy Burnett from the home club and their guests from Stoke Rochford Golf Club, Deborah Wright and Karen Rawson.

Fellow Southwell golf club Norwood Park Golf Club was represented by Louise Archer, Mandy McDonald, Samantha Parkes and Jo Shaw who took 3rd place with a very credible 80 points.

The remaining teams were as follows:-

4th Pat Matthews and Sue Shackelton (Breadsall Priory) and Jennifer Hubbard and Jan Charlesworth (Southwell) - 77 points.
5th Linda Castledine, Eva Glasby and Di Allen (Newark)and Sue Simpson (Southwell) - 74 points
6th Megan Allen and Maureen Paulson (Newark) Jayne Bingham and Charlie Hall (Southwell) - 73 points
7th Carol Dear, Angie Flavell (Retford), Sheila Pawson and Liz Martin (Southwell). - 72 points
8th Dianne Revill, Elaine Bosworth, Jean Sargison and Ann O'Donnell (Worksop) - 71 points
9th Veronica Clarke, Sue Cox (Belton Park), Helen Jackson (Stoke Rochford) and Janice Saunders (Norwood Park) - 71 points

Southwell Golf Club held the Ladies and Men’s Medal Finals this weekend and both competitions saw some great performances. In the Ladies event, Lottie Wright had her second runner up position of the week finishing just one shot behind Lady Captain Jayne Bingham who continued her outstanding form this year and took the Trent Bowl, ensuring her name is on the Honours Boards for a remarkable 4th time this season.

The Men’s competition became a family affair between Chris Crerand and his Brother Gerry. Gerry shot a great Nett 68 but a Nett 66 from Chris which included parring the last 11 holes gave him a deserved victory.

As always, a big thank you to the greens team headed by David Thomas for the continued excellent condition of the course. Your efforts are greatly appreciated by all of the members.

Thanks to the Club Captain of Southwell Golf Club, Toby Robinson who hosted a fabulous Captain’s Day at the club on Sunday. Toby has put a huge amount into his captaincy year and was rewarded with a great turnout from the membership.
The course continues to be in great condition thanks to the tremendous efforts of our greens team and with the recent rain, the fairways are starting to look a little greener.
There were some great scores across both the Men’s and Ladies competitions. Lottie Wright had an excellent 38 points but was beaten to the top spot by Gill Ruane on countback. The Men were competing for the Heron-Audi trophy, an honours board competition and on many days, James Price’s 40 points would have seen his name on the trophy. However, an excellent 42 points from Rudi Scott was enough to secure the win. Many congratulations Rudi and thanks to Toby from all of the members for your commitment to the club throughout the year.

The Ladies singles knockout competition concluded last week at Southwell Golf Club with Lisa Todd and Sheila Pawson competing in the final for the Minster Products Trophy. The match was worthy of a final with both players producing some great golf. Lisa took an early lead but Sheila drew level and then took the lead and was 3-up with just 4 holes left to play. However, Lisa showed great resolve and won three of the next 4 holes, eventually securing victory on the 1st playoff hole. Many congratulations to both players for a fantastic final and to Lisa for claiming the trophy.

A truly outstanding turnout today from around 15 volunteers to support our Greens staff as we hollow-cored the greens. Many thanks to those members who helped out by clearing the cores from the greens; your efforts meant we were able to complete all 18 greens, plus the chipping green and putting green by early afternoon. Graham Coulson is obviously the Senior Golfer in form at Southwell Golf Club. After partnering Richard Pawson to success in the Arena Leisure Greensomes Trophy on Monday, Graham took top spot yesterday in the Past Senior Captains’ Scroll with Martin Aplin in the runners-up spot and Paul Burton in 3rd place. Here’s Graham receiving the trophy from current Senior Captain Andrew Pearson. Congratulations Graham, let’s hope your excellent form continues.

The Seniors at Southwell Golf Club competed for the Arena Leisure Greensomes Trophy on Monday. Peter Allen and Andrew Smith shot a good score of nett 67 but taking top spot with an outstanding nett 63 were former Club Captains Richard Pawson and Graham Coulson. Many congratulations to both of them for some excellent golf.
