Were you inspired by the Aviva Prem Final yesterday? Would you like a career in Sport and specifically Rugby?
Are you aged 16 - 18? Or do you have a brother or sister, son or daughter, cousin or friend who is? If so, we'd love to speak to you.
You may or may not be aware, Newark Rugby Club has partnered with a brand new organisation called You Can Do Sport; Newark's first and only multi Sports Academy. The Academy offers male and female students age 16-18 the opportunity to further their education and love of Sport in Newark. Until now, students have been expected to travel to access a program such as this which for many has made it impossible. Not only that, most programmes similar to this accept elite talent only making the opportunity available to a select few only!
Through this collaborative initiative we will offer a sports education opportunity like no other - and on home ground! Students will study a 2-year, BTEC L3 Extended Diploma (equivalent to 3 A-Levels) with 50% traditional theoretical study held at Magnus Academy, Newark's only Sixth Form and 50% practical coaching at Newark Rugby Club. Students will train at the Rugby ground and benefit from professional coaching from RFU qualified and experienced coaches and a line-up of high-profile guest coaches. In addition to this we will offer specific RFU qualifications in both coaching and refereeing, regular competitive matches against other clubs, academies and sixth forms and we will provide you with your kit.
Newark Rugby Club has a long and proud history with Magnus Academy which we look forward to continuing. Did you know, the Magnus achieves a 100% Pass rate in external examination, the average grade achieved by students is Distinction (A) and students who have studied the BTEC L3 in Sport have gone on to study Sport and Exercise Science at the countries leading Sports Universities including Loughborough University and Nottingham Trent University.
If Rugby is your game and you aspire to have a career in sport, perhaps as a pro Rugby player, a coach or a referee or perhaps a sports nutritionist, sports physio or sports psychiatrist - then join us to find out more.
We are hosting a 'Taster Day' TOMORROW Monday 28 May at MAGNUS ACADEMY at 10am - 12noon. Come and hear more about what is on offer to you, meet the coaches and enjoy a rugby coaching session. .
The programme has the full support of the Rugby Club, the Nottinghamshire RFU and numerous Rugby legends including Lewis Moody and Dusty Hare. This is big news for the town, great news for the club and hopefully an opportunity of real benefit to you. Hope to see you there!
