In my opinion there is no better bait for Bream and Skimmers than our Dynamite Baits F1 Sweet range.
I wasn’t supposed to be fishing this weekend but a late cancellation of plans gave us a few free hours to get out on the bank today.
I wanted to do something a bit different so I made the decision to take some of our F1 Sweet range down to Donno Lake at Rycroft Fisheries which is full of big bream and skimmers to just prove how good the range actually is!
With the water level being down around 2 feet, I decided to just fish 3 different swims at all at 13m as it was too shallow where id have liked to fish a short line.
My left hand swim I fished F1 Sweet 2mm pellets which I had soaked the night before. To do this all I do is put the amount of pellets needed for the session fill them with bottled water just above them, pop the lid on and leave them in the fridge overnight. In the morning you have nice soft pellets which have soaked up all the water.
I planned to fish a 4mm expander, again the F1 Sweet range over the top of the micros.
To prepare these all I do is put the amount of pellets I need for a session into a plastic food bag and just fill the corner of the bag with water so all the pellets are covered tie a knot and pop in the fridge overnight and in the morning, you will have them perfect ready for fishing. Just give them a little squeeze once on the hook to make sure they sink!
The other two lines at 13m, I planned to fish ground bait with particles in.
The ground bait mix for today was one part of my favourite F1 Sweet Green, 0.5 of a part F1 Cool water and one part F1 sweet milled expander ground bait.
Again I mix this the night before to ensure all of the water has been soaked up. I like to fish this not too wet but damp enough that it will sink to the bottom on a deeper venue.
I fed a positive line where I had four balls of the ground bait laced with a few 2mm pellets, dead maggots, casters chopped worms and sweetcorn. On the negative line which i planned to fish earlier than my positive line, I put one ball of same mix and a hand full of loose casters.
I started on the pellet line and caught a bream straight away. This was good but after about an hour of catching nice bronze Bream, it slowed a little so i tapped in a few more 2mm pellets, then looked on my negative ground bait line with a piece of corn on the hook. I caught two bream within five minutes. I then caught a couple of smaller fish which meant i needed to top up already! I put another tangerine sized ball in and went over to have a look on the positive line because i got the feeling those bigger Bream wanted to eat some bait! That move proved to be good and I caught steady for a good hour or more. The positive line was good. I was catching Bream of around 3 to 4lb regularly.
I’ve had to top up really regularly today. They were hungry!
I’ve rotated these three lines for the four hour session that we’ve had today and I’ve caught around 80lb of bream all averaging around 3 to 4lb. I even managed a cheeky Jack Pike of around 7lb which I foulhooked in it’s fin but I still managed to get it out on silvers gear!!
I’ve had an absolutely brilliant day and this goes to show how good this range of bait from Dynamite actually is for Bream and Skimmers. As soon as i topped up my lines today, the fish were straight onto the bait! My swim was like a jacuzzi at times! Corn was the best hook bait today i wanted to catch the big ones!
The silvers season won’t be too far away now so I recommend that you get some of this range ready to catch big bags of Skimmers and Bream!
13m was 7ft deep today on all 3 lines.
My rig was a 0.5g Skimmer Carbon.
0.15 Nytro Sublime Power Rig mainline with a 6 inch 0.13 Sublime Power Rig Fluro hook length to a size 16 NTO B4 hook.
My shotting pattern was just a bulk of no.9s 18inch above the hook with 2 droppers the last one on the knot before the hook length.
Elastic choice was our Flex elastic from Nytro in size 4-6
