🥽 STARTING BABY SWIMMING LESSONS WITH US? 🦈💦

We’re so excited to welcome you and your little one to the pool! 💙

Before your first lesson, here’s a quick reminder of what you’ll need:

🩲 A swim nappy
🩱 A Happy Nappy
👶 Swimming costume, swimsuit or shorts

And don’t worry about your little one getting cold — our pool is heated to a lovely 33°C, so it’s nice and warm for them! 🥰💦

👩‍🍼 A little tip for grown-ups…

We recommend arriving swim-ready wherever possible, with your swimming attire already on underneath your clothes. And for afterwards, loose, easy-to-put-on clothing is definitely your friend! 😂

It makes getting changed after your lesson so much quicker and easier.

🧺 A few important reminders

🛑 Please don’t bring pushchairs into the changing area.

👀 Spectators are very welcome, but we politely ask that they remain in the designated viewing area.

📦 Please use the clear boxes provided to store your clothes and belongings, and take these out of the changing rooms once you’re ready.

🚪 Most importantly, please leave the changing area clear and tidy for the next family. 💙

We know those first few swimming lessons can feel like a lot to remember, so hopefully this helps! 🥰

Although some of you may not be back to school, swimming restarts tomorrow. The summer has sure flown by and we hope you are all rested and ready for another fantastic term! ☀️ 💪

We have had a VERY busy summer break here at HQ - lessons galore, splash session in abundance and a few cheeky parties thrown in there to keep us on our toes! Busy, but we wouldn't change it. 😁

We look forward to welcoming everyone back through our doors and having another amazing term being part of !! 😁

🥽 LESSONS! 🥽

We get asked ALL the time… “Do you offer trial lessons?” 👀

The short answer is… not usually! 💙

And there’s a really good reason why…

We find that little swimmers often need more than ONE lesson to settle into a new environment, get to know their teacher and feel comfortable trying something new. 🥰

Think about it… when your little one starts nursery or school, their teacher has hours and hours with them each week to build that trust, rapport and bond.

At Speedy Sharks, we have just 30 minutes! 🦈

So, judging how a child will feel about swimming — or how they’ll progress — based on one 30-minute lesson simply isn’t a fair reflection of what they’re capable of. 💦

We wholeheartedly believe in the process we’ve developed here at Speedy Sharks, and we’re9 incredibly lucky to have a team who believe in it just as much as we do. 💙

So, sometimes, the biggest thing we ask from parents is simply…

TRUST THE PROCESS. 🥰🦈

We know that building confidence, trust and a love of swimming takes time — and we promise, it’s worth it! 💦

We completely understand that sometimes you just want to give it a go and see what your little one thinks!

😎 GOGGLES — A LITTLE PIECE OF KIT THAT MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE! 🏊‍♀️🦈

When children are learning to swim, we really do feel that a well-fitting pair of goggles can be an invaluable part of their swimming kit. 👀💦

Goggles can help little swimmers feel more comfortable in the water, see clearly when practising underwater skills and, most importantly, build their confidence and independence. 💙

If your child is in one of our independent lessons, we offer a TRY BEFORE YOU BUY option! 🙌

Your little one can try our goggles in the pool to make sure they fit comfortably, stay in place and are suitable for them before you buy.

So, if you're unsure what style or size to go for, just ask us at your next lesson — we're happy to help! 👍

Has your little one grown out of their swimwear or swim nappies quicker than expected?🩱🩳

Maybe you’ve been on holiday, had a summer clear-out, or simply discovered that those swimmers that fitted perfectly a few weeks ago are now far too small! If they’re still in good, usable condition, please don’t throw them away! ♻️

🦈 FUNDAMENTALS 🦈

Many people think floating on their back is easy... until they try it. 🌟 🌊

The truth is, most beginners struggle not because they can't float, but because they're making a few simple mistakes that sink their body. ❌

🚫 Common Mistakes:

❌ Lifting the head to look at the feet.
❌ Keeping the hips too low in the water.
❌ Tensing the entire body.
❌ Holding the breath instead of breathing naturally.
❌ Moving the arms and legs too much to stay afloat.

✅ The Correct Technique:

✔️ Keep your ears in the water. 👂💦
✔️ Look straight up at the sky or ceiling. ☁️
✔️ Push your hips up toward the surface. ⬆️
✔️ Relax your neck, shoulders, and body. 😌
✔️ Breathe slowly and naturally. 🌬️
✔️ Spread your arms and legs slightly to improve balance. ⭐

💡 Remember: Floating isn't about strength... it's about balance, relaxation, and proper body position.
