East Fortune Race Report - 16 July 2023

Zoe Paterson - Scottish Junior Twins

This was a meeting with no qualifying with the starting grid to be determined by championship points. With this system Zoe started in 6th place for the 3 scheduled races. Zoe had to try and overcome clutch issues in all 3 of her races which badly affected her starts but despite these issues Zoe kept her head down and finished 9th, 10th and 9th overall. Zoe remained circumspect and looks forward to competing at Knockhill reverse in 2 weeks.

Owen Paterson - Scottish Lightweights

Owen was in 3rd place on the grid which was based on championship position for the 3 scheduled races. Owen finished 1st, 4th and 2nd places in the Sunday races. Owen was taking the opportunity to try different riding techniques over the course of the weekend, trying to work out how to use the rear brake effectively and efficiently.

Lewis Paterson was not present at this meeting as he was trying his hand with the No Limits club and was racing at Anglesey in Wales.

Next meeting is 29/30 July at Knockhill.

Knockhill Race Report - 27/28 May 2023

Lewis Paterson - Scottish Superbikes

Lewis qualified in 2nd position for the 2 scheduled Scottish Superbike races, with his grid positions for the KMSC races to be decided by finishing positions in the previous races.

In the Scottish Superbike races Lewis had close battles but ultimately triumphed to take 2 further wins in the Scottish Superbike class. In the KMSC Superbike races Lewis started from pole position and one the first race. He again started from pole position in the 2nd race but was ultimately denied a chance at victory by a slower rider and was forced to settle for 2nd position.

Lewis brought his personal best lap time at Knockhill down to a 49.7s.

Owen Paterson - Scottish Lightweights

Owen qualified in pole position for the 2 scheduled Scottish Lightweight races setting a lap time of 52.819s, which was under the existing lap record. Owen's grid positions for the KMSC races to be decided by finishing positions in the previous races.

On Saturday Owen crashed out of the first Lightweight race, despite setting the fastest. In the 2nd race Owen was forced to start from the back of the grid and made his way up to 6th by the finish.

On Sunday Owen finished 2nd in the second KMSC race of the weekend, before going on to take victory in the final Scottish Championship race of the weekend with a last corner passing manouvre.

Owen was awarded the Willie Brown Spirit of the Meeting award by the KMSC at the trophy presentation, in recognition of his comeback from a difficult 2022 season.

Zoe Paterson - Scottish Junior Twins

Zoe qualified in 10th place for the 2 scheduled Scottish Junior Twins races, with her grid positions for the KMSC races to be decided by finishing positions in the previous races.

On Saturday Zoe pulled out of the first race of the weekend with a technical issue with the quick shifter. The team disconnected this for the rest of the weekend. In the second race on Saturday Zoe started from the back of the grid and made her way up to 11th place.

On Sunday Zoe finished 11th twice, setting her personal best lap of the season so far with a 61.5s lap.

East Fortune Race Report - 13/14 May 2023

Lewis Paterson - Scottish Superbikes

Lewis qualified on pole position for the 4 scheduled races. He led the first 3 Scottish Superbike races from start to finish. In the final Superbike race of the weekend the team made the wrong tyre choice and Lewis was riding with a wet front and dry rear in conditions that were essentially dry. Lewis still brought the bike home in 2nd place though, to extend his lead at the top of the Scottish Superbike championship.

Owen Paterson - Scottish Lightweights

Owen qualified in 2nd place for the 4 scheduled races. Owen finished 3rd and 4th in the two Saturday races, before taking another 3rd place in the first Sunday race. Despite setting the fastest lap of the final race Owen unfortunately slipped off his Aprilia RS600 whilst vying for the lead and recorded a non-finish.

Zoe Paterson - Scottish Junior Twins

Zoe qualified in 7th place for the 4 scheduled races. Zoe finished 8th, 8th, 9th and 9th and improved her lap times in every race of the weekend, making progress and learning lots.

Next meeting is 27/28 May at Knockhill.
