🥊🇬🇧 Farewell and Good Luck, Rivers Dunn 🇬🇧🥊

Today we say farewell to one of our own, Rivers Dunn, as he embarks on an incredible new chapter, beginning his training journey with the Royal Marines Commandos.

Rivers holds a special place in the history of Newquay Boxing Academy, being one of the very first boxers from our club to compete in the Junior Championships. Since those early days, he has grown not only as a boxer but as a young man of outstanding character, dedication, and determination.

Over the years, Rivers has progressed from a boy boxer to a qualified coach, spending the last few months helping to develop and inspire the next generation of our junior boxers. His commitment, leadership, and positive attitude have made a lasting impact on everyone at the club.

A Note from our El Presidente

"We are sad but proud to wave our very own Rivers off to join the Royal Marines Commandos at Lympstone tomorrow. He has been with the club as a boy boxer through to qualifying as a coach, involved for the last few months bringing on our junior boxers. Rivers is a credit to his family and the club, demonstrating an excellent character and attitude at all times and in all things. We will miss him greatly but wish this outstanding young man the very best. From us all at Newquay Boxing Academy, we will be with you all the way."

Rivers, thank you for everything you have given to the club. We are immensely proud of your achievements and have no doubt you will attack this next challenge with the same courage, discipline, and determination you have always shown in the boxing ring.

Cas bows out of the pre quarter National championships this afternoon on another frustrating 3/2 split decision, he should hold his head high after a struggling first round adjusting to the lads long range and taking a count, he took the next 2 rounds with a lovely display of boxing, keep up the great work mate really proud of you 🥊

Newquay Boxing Academy were proud to welcome Tamworth Boxing Club over the weekend for a fantastic exchange of sparring and training. It was a brilliant opportunity to bring two dedicated clubs together.

From the outset, Tamworth arrived with a great attitude and strong team spirit, which set the tone for a highly productive and enjoyable weekend.

The sparring was competitive but always respectful, with every boxer showing discipline, skill, and a willingness to learn. It was particularly encouraging to see athletes adapting, taking on advice, and pushing themselves outside of their comfort zones.

As part of the visit, Newquay Boxing Academy were also delighted to invite Tamworth Boxing Club to attend a Cornwall County training session, giving their boxers further exposure to a wider pool of talent. This added experience made the weekend even more valuable for everyone involved.

Away from the gym, the Newquay team were pleased to treat the Tamworth boxers and coaches to a session of combat archery, providing a fun and memorable way to relax and bond outside of boxing. It was a great success, with plenty of laughs and team spirit on display.

It was especially nice to see the young people working together so well, building confidence and forming new friendships with others from outside their own county. Opportunities like this go beyond boxing, helping to develop social skills, respect, and a strong sense of community.

Coaches from both clubs worked closely throughout the weekend, sharing knowledge and supporting all of the boxers in the gym. The collaboration highlighted the strength of the amateur boxing community and the benefits of clubs coming together to raise standards and create new opportunities.

Newquay Boxing Academy would like to thank Tamworth Boxing Club for making the trip and contributing to such a positive and successful weekend. We are looking forward to our visit to Tamworth with the NBA squad and continuing to build on this strong relationship in the future.
