A Special Day at New Quay Yacht Club!

Recently we were proud to celebrate the naming of our brand-new RIB. A fantastic addition to the club made possible thanks to a generous grant award from Sport Wales' Be Active Wales Fund.

We proudly named our new RIB "Celtic Rose." In true NQYC style and ethos, she's been named after Rosemary Brangwin - a past Commodore and long-serving Sailing Secretary through the 1980s and 90s. A dedicated sailor, Rosemary crewed for husband Colin in his GP14 and later their Super Seal 26ft cruiser, and alongside Jennifer Davies, was instrumental in setting up the club's children's sailing courses and camps, helping NQYC earn and keep its status as an RYA Recognised Training Establishment for many years. Her love of the sea (and of dance!) lives on in her children, Stephanie, Joanne and Nicholas. Rosemary sadly passed away recently after a long illness. This naming is a small way of honouring her legacy at our club.

Since arriving, this RIB has already made a real difference; supporting safety cover for training and racing, helping run our events and neighbouring club events smoothly, and opening new opportunities for our community to get out on the water.

A huge thank you to Sport Wales for their support in making this possible. Investment like this builds confidence, safety, and access to the water and sailing for everyone at our club and community, from complete beginners to seasoned racers.

Here's to many more years of safe sailing, training, and adventures ahead!

Last night’s Yacht Club Dinner ⚓️🥂

Thanks to The Moody Cow Welsh Kitchen & Farm Shop for top notch food and service
Huge thanks for Rees-Tom Jones, our commodore, for pulling off a great evening and everyone who helped along the way.

A brilliant way to round off a fantastic summer!

Sadly, the Yacht Club has been closed this year due to fire damage, but if there’s one thing we’ve learnt, it’s that a club isn’t just four walls — it’s the people who make it.
And we’re very lucky to have such a brilliant community of members.

Huge thanks to Steffan Williams

A big thank you to Steffan Williams for giving up his time to run a land based coaching session for our members on calibrating ILCA’s and sail settings.

Steffan has just returned from a hugely successful week at the ILCA Youth Worlds, and the fantastic turnout for his session is testament to his skills. Thank you, Steffan, for sharing your expertise and time with us.
