Rod: "Really struggled to find a swim on Norton Disney, and after walking round Billys, Turners, Hodgets and Stocks I ended up on Pettitts swim 10, deepest part of the lake, but beggers can't be choosers! By mid afternoon I'd had enough so brought the rods in and went for a wander, found a good looking peg with a few carp giving themselves away on Holdens, peg 6. I've never fished Holdens so it was a shot in the dark. After a 30 min barrow push in 27 degrees heat I set about finding spots, and found a couple at just under 20 wraps. With a mix of Kent Particles Spicy Liver boilies in 18mm and 10mm with a couple of tins of corn, Spicy Liver Carp Pellets and glug I spodded around 20 spods over the 2 spots. Just after midnight I was ripped from my sleep with an absolute one toner....landing a little beauty at 25lb 09oz. Then mid morning whilst knocking up a bacon butty a beautiful 32lb 08oz stunner graced my net after a fantastic battle, mostly on the surface, heart in mouth and knees knocking because of the barbless rule. Then early on the last morning I was just reaching for the kettle wondering why nothing had happened through the night....3 beeps and then my right hand rod rattled off, this little fellow gave great account of himself at 20lb 02oz, I'm sure he dumped 5 or 6 pounds before I netted him π Just goes to show, if you ain't feeling it.....do something about it, on my last count on the first day I'd done over 18000 steps! No one else landed any carp during my stay, with high pressure and crazy 27 degrees it was never going to be easy, just goes to show Effort = Reward, and the application of probably the best bait on the market 100% tipped the scales literally in my favour.
