Time for some court maintenance! Caz doesn’t just manage facilities at the club, she gets well and truly stuck in and gets her hands dirty.

She’s even cleared the clubhouse basement. But she’s looking happy about it!!

We were delighted to welcome Pangbourne Tennis Club today as part of their weekend away to the south coast. We all enjoyed some great tennis and a delicious lunch. Here are a few shots of the day!

Doris is our sports legend!

Wimbledon may be over but action on court continues all year round at Hale Gardens in New Milton.

This week, our lovely long-time member, Doris Gethings was interviewed by Lucy Ambache from Radio Solent who crowned her as sports legend of the week.

Doris is soon to be 89 years young, plays tennis 4 times a week, cycles to the club and somehow also manages to fit in games of bowls, volunteering for Oakhaven Hospice and on top of that finds time to take care of her beautiful garden.

We are all inspired by Doris and her enthusiasm for the game and her love of life. Everyone at Hale Gardens wishes you many, many more years of tennis membership. We agree you really are a legend!

After she heard her on the radio, her very proud granddaughter Rebecca Maude penned this very lovely ode to Doris:

Tennis Legend

My grandmother’s name is Doris and she is eighty-nine
Down on the tennis court, that’s where she spends her time
In the small town of New Milton, Hale Gardens is where she’ll go
Ask for any name at the club, but Doris is the name they know!
Well Doris is a legend and inspiration for us all to see
As I get older, it is my grandmother who I aspire to be!
