New Abbey completed their participation in the Stewartry Bowling Association Finals, playing in their fifth final on Monday night.
Christine and Barbara played at Dalbeattie in the Ladies Pairs against Sam Sample and Margaret Boyd Dalbeattie, with Dalbeattie winning the final.
Reflecting on Saturday’s finals at Castle Douglas in which New Abbey won all four of the finals played .
First at 9.30am was the Mixed Pairs won by Keith and Christine.
Second just after noon the Senior Fours winners were Keith, Christine Wullie 🐻 and Robert.
Thirdly at 2.10pm the Triples winners were Keith, Scott and Christine.
Finally starting at 4.50pm was the Gents Singles Final of which Keith was the winner 🏆.
Well done to all players involved in the various finals, with a mention of Keith and Christine’s endurance on the green playing three games in succession with only two 15 minute breaks between, after which Keith was back on the green playing in the Gents Singles Final which finished at 6.50pm, at time of over 8 hours on the green.
On completion of the finals the results were announced by Ben Herries and the Trophies presented by Kimberly on behalf of Ian Bendall Funeral Directors, sponsors of Finals Day.
On behalf of the players Keith thanked Castle Douglas for hosting the day and to the supporters of the competing teams for attending and showing their support, he gave his thanks to Ian Bendall for his continuing support of Finals Day.
Continuing Keith thanked Ben Herries for his work in organising the early rounds to the scheduling of the order of play on the day, also thanking Ben for his work over the last ten years as secretary in administrating the association, he wished him well now that he was retiring from the position.
Finally Keith gave a special thanks to the members of New Abbey who attended to give their support, which inspired the team to keep their momentum going on the green.
