This is Claire.

Claire is our brilliant Team Manger who does so much to support the whole of our girls section, from the U12’s all the way through to our U18’s.

But it’s not just us at Lincoln she supports; she’s the vital link between us, and our Valkyries teammates at , , and , organising our fixtures for both friendly matches and NLD competitions, as well as the very successful finals day held at Lincoln.

Today she’s been at Pennyhill Park watching the train as part of the RFU volunteer recognition scheme, where she’s been quite rightly recognised for her efforts which often go unseen, but make the coaches lives much easier and ensures that the girls get as much game time as possible.

Claire said “whilst the reward has come my way, its recognition for all of us, its got me reflecting on everything that we’ve all done to move the game forward in Lincolnshire this season and I think we should all be very proud of ourselves.

As a county we’ve never had this many junior girls playing rugby; our girls have played more friendly and competitive matches than any other girls team before this season, and teams across the region now know our teams names and are asking to travel and play us.

I think any one of those achievements in one season is amazing, let alone all 3! None of them could have happened without our coaches too.”

Congratulations Claire!

We hope that , & like their Lincoln scrunchies, Claire said it was great to meet & too.

Valkyries U14s played at a windy and cold Market Rasen this afternoon. Lincoln provided 6 of the 10 Valkyries ready to brave the conditions.

Playing against All Mac’s who’ve provided close competition recently it was going to be a challenge. The Valkyries competed well trading tries with All Macs in the first ten minutes.

As the game went on though Valkyries showed how far they have come making solid tackles, competing well at the breakdown and running and passing with purpose.

The power and togetherness came through and they came up with an impressive win. It is incredible how far the girls have come and how well they have bonded as a group (showed fully in the post match social).

Final score Valkyries 49 All Macs 25.

Player of the match Renn. Tries: Renn (3) Jemima, Annabelle from Lincoln, Poppy (2) and Annabelle from MR, Amy from Gainsboro. Conversions: Phoebe from Lincoln and Poppy from MR.

Thanks to coach Tom and coach Jez - it shows how strong the Lincoln Rugby family are that the old boys who played together years ago now have their daughters playing on the same team.

Good luck Anwen, we’re all cheering you on!!!🔴⚪️🟢💪💪💪🟢⚪️🔴

A fantastic day for girls rugby today as played host to the U14’s finals day, with girls from across the region coming together for a real celebration of girls rugby on International Women’s Day.

The girls played some phenomenal rugby, with North Notts winning the Plate today and the Valkyries running out Bowl winners.

After many big losses, in recent weeks the close losses have shown the progression the girls have made; creeping closer to that elusive ‘W’.

Today the girls got that W, with a solid victory in a game that swung back and forth, with the Valkyries eventually running out 36-19 winners against Ilkeston Impalas to win the Bowl.

In the spirit of rugby we also leant players to the All Macs to help make up their numbers and get the games to go ahead, with their Head Coach saying “the Lincoln girls didn’t just make up numbers, they made a real positive impact.”

As a coaching group we’re immensely proud of the girls, who’ve all worked incredibly hard to get this victory.

Another strong afternoon by the girls today as the Valkyries featuring girls from Lincoln, , and took on the All Macs with their team made up with girls from and .

An entertaining end to end game, with six tries a piece being scored and goal kicking making the difference on a pitch that was heavy underfoot, but providing some open, running rugby.

Final score, Valkyries 32 - 38 All Macs.

Another big step forwards for the girls, with that elusive ‘W’ creeping ever closer…

A tough afternoon for the U14 in their match against Newark.

Whilst the result didn’t go the way of our girls there was plenty of fight shown and some good moments, great to have 3 girls, 2 from our friends at and 1 of our very own not only playing in their 1st Valkyries match, but their very first competitive games of rugby today.

A truly fantastic effort by all involved.

A big afternoon for our U14’s who made up part of the ball team today with our friends from & for the vs .

It was a fantastic afternoons rugby and great for the girls to be able to get up close to so many of their heroes and play a small role in a match day and get close to the trophy.

The girls were delights to be able to get photos with some of the players after the game, so massive thanks to , , .russell & for taking time after such a hard fought game to take some pictures and make some memories for the girls.

Also need to say thanks to , , & for stopping for a photo too.

Didn’t get to catch up with the legends that are & today, there’s always next time…

Yesterday the U14’s Valkyries (Lincoln, Boston, Gainsborough, Scunthorpe, & Market Rasen) U14’s took on North Notts (Paviors, Southwell & Ashfield) in their first NLD Cup Match.

It started as an even contest with North Notts opening the scoring before the Valkyries struck back with a well worked move to the left of the field putting Lincoln’s Connie into space to run in under the posts from just inside her own half.

Momentum swung back and forth with both teams scoring a try a piece, Jess grabbing Lincoln’s second try just before half time and converted by Briony from Boston.

Under a glorious autumn sky the game restarted with North Notts scoring 2 quick tries. Undeterred by this setback, Jemima continued to make a nuisance of herself in the best way possible at tighthead and at the breakdown, turning over several rucks and was unlucky to have been held up over the line.

The Valkyries continued to pile on the pressure, with Jess scoring her second try chasing her own audacious chip to touch down, and Poppy from Rasen crossing the line at the death to put the icing on the cake on what was an incredible afternoon for all the girls involved.

Final Score: Lincolnshire Valkyries U14’s 36 – 22 North Notts.

It goes without saying that all the coaches are beyond proud of the girls and efforts today and our thoughts got out to the injured North Notts player, wishing her a speedy recovery.
