❗️Help Save Kingsley Cricket Club 🏏

Tomorrow we’re heading to Kingsley CC for what could potentially be one of the last games of cricket played at their ground.

Kingsley are currently top of our league, but off the pitch they’re fighting to save their club and secure its future.

As fellow cricketers, we know local clubs are about much more than just Saturday cricket, they’re about the people, friendships, juniors, volunteers and keeping the game alive in our communities.

So let’s show our support for a fellow local cricket club. Whatever you would normally spend on teas, consider putting that towards Kingsley’s crowdfunding campaign instead.

Every contribution, big or small, could help keep cricket being played at Kingsley for years to come. ❤️🏏

🌧️ MATCHDAY UPDATE 🌧️

Unfortunately, due to the weather, both of today’s fixtures against Tranmere Vics have been cancelled

It’s the first time this season we’ve had a Saturday called off so we’ve done pretty well to get this far! 🏏

Fingers crossed for better weather and we’ll be back next Saturday. 🤞

🏏 MATCH REPORT

Burton Cricket Club 2nd XI vs Tranmere Victoria Cricket Club 2nd XI
📍 Cheshire Cricket League Division C West | Saturday 22 August 2026

A real nail-biter this weekend. The 2nd XI picked up 14 points with a 17-run win over Tranmere Vics.

🏏 Burton CC 2nd XI — 195/7 (32.0 overs)
After losing the toss and being put in to bat, the lads set to work building a big target on a 32-over game.
A. Arora set the tone early with a brisk 29 (29 balls, 6x4), backed up by M. Jones (16). A couple of mid-innings wickets fell but skipper W. Webster steadied things with a classy 43 off 44 balls (7x4, 1x6).
Then came the late fireworks! 💥 N. Ahmadzai put on a proper show, smashing 33 off just 19 balls at a ridiculous 173 strike rate (4x4, 2x6) while J. Fagan anchored the tail superbly, ending 22* off 41 to push Burton up to a formidable 195/7.

🏏 Tranmere Victoria CC 2nd XI — 178/9 (32.0 overs)
Tranmere started their chase with aggressive intent but Burton’s attack fought back hard. V. Shah snagged an early breakthrough, while J. Fagan went to work through their top order, claiming 3 huge wickets (including a c&b)!
Tranmere weren't going down without a fight though as S. Stalin played a storming knock of 76 (60 balls) to keep the visitors right in it.
With the game on the line, the lads held their nerves. N. Ahmadzai got the breakthrough we needed by cleaning up Stalin, before J. Saunby came on to clean up the lower order with a clutch 3-wicket spell. A. Frampton chipped in with another late wicket to restrict Tranmere to 178/9 at the end of their 32 overs!

Burton Cricket Club 1st XI vs Frodsham Cricket Club 1st XI 🏏
📍 Cheshire Cricket League Division 3 | Away at Frodsham CC | Saturday 22 August 2026

A cracking afternoon of cricket away at Frodsham saw the hosts run out worthy winners by 5 wickets, chasing down Burton's total with overs to spare.
🏏 Burton CC 1st XI — 148 all out (43.1 overs)
Standout performance with the bat came from Dan Cook, who anchored the innings with a superb 50 off 71 balls, striking 9 boundaries along the way. He was well supported by Stuart Daniels (22) and Andrew Van Beek (18), while Dan Bradley provided a real spark down the order with a blistering 10 off just 10 balls, including a huge six! Martyn Powell (15) also got in on the act late on to push the total up to 148.
With the ball for Frodsham, James Palliser (3 wickets) and Martin Dodd (3 wickets) did the damage.
🏏 Frodsham CC 1st XI — 152/5 (40.2 overs)
Frodsham got off to a flyer thanks to Jaymie Littlemore-Smith's electric 19 off just 17 balls, and steady contributions from Daniel Connolly (25) and Simon Tasker (24) kept the chase on track throughout the middle overs.
The chase was finished in style by Richard Watt, who smashed a brilliant unbeaten 38 off 30 balls with 5 fours and a six, finding great support from Matt Williamson (16 not out) to guide the hosts home.
Burton fought hard in the field, with Gary Corner (2 wickets) striking early to remove both Littlemore-Smith and Duncan Chriscoli, while Stuart Daniels and Matthew Davies each picked up a wicket apiece to keep the pressure on.

👏 A great team effort from both sides.
