Tempo Tuesday 16/06

This weeks session is a threshold focused session, finishing off with some efforts at 5k pace

It’s 3 x 8 minutes at threshold/10k pace with 90 seconds rest before regrouping to go into 6 x 1 minute at 5k pace with 60 seconds rest

Laura’s parkrun PB attempt 🎯

Laura is someone you’ve not seen with us before, but she’s a regular on a Monday night Trawden run and is often dragged out a few times a week to run with Mark… poor Laura 😂

The goal was around 22 minutes, despite a windy morning in Towneley Park, we knew she was stronger than that and we pushed the pace and went ahead of the 22 minute pacer after the first km! 💪

Running consistent km splits of 4:21, 4:12, 4:15, 4:15, 4:15 (and then an extra 9 seconds) finishing in 21:27, not only getting a parkrun PB but getting an all time 5k PB too 👏

With more speed training, let’s see how fast she can go! 🚀

POV - when 3 road runners take to the trails 😂

Wanting to do a bit of a different run, James, Tom and Jordan decided to head over to the trails around Clowbridge reservoir…

It’s only light trails, but it’s one of Jordan’s favourite routes and a completely new experience for Tom!

Not sure you’ll be seeing us make the switch anytime soon 😅

Hill Strides ⛰️

Short 10 second hill reps are a great way to improve running strength, power, running mechanics and efficiency for every type of runner

The reps don’t need to be long! Short efforts keeping the quality high will improve speed, running economy, and build strength without creating huge fatigue

Your turn now! 👀

Simple session:
6-10 x 10 seconds hill strides
Walk back recovery
Best added after an easy run 1-2 times per week

This weeks session is a Mona Fartlek, which we will be running at 5k pace

The session is 2 x 90 seconds, 4 x 60 seconds, 4 x 30 seconds and 4 x 15 seconds all at 5k pace with jog recoveries equal to rep time

It’s going to be a fast one!
